Made an immediate improvement in lawn
I've heard of humic for years in lawn forums but never really went for it; the commercial solutions were too expensive and I felt mechanical aeration was appropriate. But my current house has such compacted soil you have to use a shovel to get down more than 1-2". Screwdriver test gets nowhere. I found this and decided to go for it. It is an excellent value - this one bag is the same cost as a half gallon of 12% solution, and this makes 4 gallons of that. So, depending on your source, it's about 7-10 times cheaper than purchasing premixed humic. Plus, why ship extra pounds of water? That said, it is a bit of a pain. This stuff is very messy, and a tiny spill of powder makes a big mess. I just measured out using my kitchen scale, but I wish I'd done it differently, since we're still finding small granules that probably settled from puffs of it getting in air; it is very fine. But, I mixed a gallon and sprayed the 12% concentrate at 1.5oz/gal/1000 with an Ortho, and my first screwdriver test a week later went about 4". This one fairly heavy application made an immediate improvement on my soil. I also noticed I was able to more easily pull out some weeds, and could more easily shake off the soil from the roots. Here is what I wish I'd done:- Use better PPE - longer gloves, dust mask (unfortunately impossible to find right now with Covid), goggles. I'm not sure the effects of the finer dust getting into places.- Measure out using a luggage scale into ziploc bags of 10oz each, up front. Do this in an area you don't want stained. Use a blower afterward. Don't do it inside.- Mix at a 6% solution (10oz powder weight into 1 gallon) and spray at 2-3oz/gallon/1000 instead. The 12% seemed to spray somewhat inconsistently and I'm not sure it totally blended. If you're only mixing a gallon at a time, there's no benefit to the 12% over the 6%, other than spray time; but I found I spent a lot of time fiddling with the ortho (pulling the clogged diaphragm) and 6% may have prevented that. So, if you're looking for a good DIY source, this is great, just be aware like everything you're trading money for work. But, with the added benefit of not shipping liquids and having more control of your final solution (why not mix with some kelp or other micronutrient juices while at it?), it's definitely worth doing it this way.

Wow. Finally its easy to mix your own Humic Acid, and cheaply!
This is super easy to mix up and mess free if you mix it like I did. I take a clear 1 Gallon Water jug with lid, then measure the humic acid powder using a kitchen scale. I found that 1/2 cup = 6oz. So the prescribed 1.25lbs (20oz) = 1.66 cups approximately. I mixed up 1 1/2 cups into my gallon jug by carefully pouring it in to the gallon using a wide funnel.. Then I filled the gallon 1/2 way with a garden hose, put the lid back on and shook vigorously until I had a smooth consistent mix. Finally I topped the gallon off and added some liquid Sea kelp to make a balanced lawn supplement. This mix is as good as any premixed liquid lawn supplement I have ever used and at a fraction of the price. Love it!

Unbeatable price! Powder is better! Why ship water?
Wonderful product with a price point. Powder dissolves readily in water. I used warm to hot water and a paint stirrer on a drill bit and mixed all 5 pounds with 4 gallons of distilled water in a 5 gallon bucket to make 4 gallons of 12% humic. With the warm water there may have been a bit of a fulvic release, but that is ok, even a good thing. It took a little time to integrate 5 pounds as you can't just dump all of it into the water at once, but must slowly mix it in. But it all mixed and got poured into 4 one gallon jugs for storage. About 2 months later, what I have not used of the product is still in solution. My Bermudagrass loves it!

Humic acid
Stays in solution for me.

Plants love it, makes a large quantity.
The reason why I picked this particular brand is that it's concentrated. You can make quite a few gallons of tea and supplement your plants for a long time!

When mixed, it's as dark as molasses, just a bit thinner. Great humic acid.
Definitely a good product. I was using Recharge for my humic acid purposes. I found this 5 lb bag and immediately bought it. The price is great if you're using an ounce per gallon. With the OMRI stamp of approval, and it's made in the USA, I was definitely sold.

Add water and it turns to sludge, not water soluble
This stuff just made a mess, stained everything it touches and doesn't work at all as described in the description on Amazon. I followed the manufacturers recommendations and it sank to the bottom and gunked up my sprayer. I used a different sprayer and it has clogged everything it touches. This has been a huge disappointment...
