Provides nice color and flavor to various things. good quality, reasonably priced.This powder is easier to use than whole seeds, cause the whole annatto are very hard and not good to bite into.

Surprisingly delicious
After returning from Ecuador, I wanted to make my family a traditional dinner of chicken, beans or and rice. After searching online I found this spice on Amazon and decided to try it. I cooked chunks of thigh meat in a bit of oil, salt and this spice and it was a huge hit with the family. Lots of good flavor without being too picante. Even my fussy 3 and 4 year grandsons gobbled it up.

Since ordering bijol gets you an envelope full of yellow food dye ( they don't use saffron anymore) I decided to make my own. You can get the recipe online!

Buy for the color. Not the flavor.
If you have a recipe that calls for ground Annatto, unless you absolutely need the red color, skip this purchase. I bought this for a dry rub for a pork roast because the recipe called for it. When I received this product, I tasted it. It had NO flavor. I did some research and discovered that the #1 reason anyone uses this "spice" is for color. This is almost NO flavor. It's not a defective product, that's just how annatto is. So, save your money unless you actually need this for coloring. Your recipe will taste no different if you leave this out.
