I bought a 7800x when they came out I got lucky coming from a respectable 2500k @ 4.7. My chip can hit 5ghz easy and if I had a delid along with my big water setup I could get 5.2. That is a 100th percentile CPU!. If you are looking at it as of Oct 5 2017 get a coffeelake instead save the power.

Intel is way overpriced but this 7800x does perform very well if money isn’t a huge factor for you.

I jumped the gun on this and didn't know there were other chips better suited towards gaming. So far this hasn't disappointed me at all. I'm coming from an I7-4790k which is still great chip. This is billed moreso as the productivity chip for content creators. I play 1440p and 4k whenever possible.I haven't noticed any FPS drops outside of the norm or other problems while playing modern games all.

Great CPU and Great Platform!
This has proven to be an excellent upgrade for me. I moved from the X79 platform to the X299 platform, and I have been pleased so far with the performance improvement.
