Way better than the clamshell type
I'm an avid traveler and about a year ago I finally bought my first hardside luggage. I got a gorgeous Samsonite set which got lots of compliments in airports and hotels. However, I'm a 71 year old woman, often travel alone and the clamshell style simply didn't work for me. Whenever I wanted to pop a bag open to grab something, the lid, packed with clothes, was sooo heavy, I couldn't hold it up with one hand while digging with the other.. I had to find an area large enough to allow me to open the bag all the way...laying both halves flat...to retrieve any of the contents. When I checked my bag, it was a few pounds over and to open it and pull a few things out was a nightmare in the crowded airport. Couldn't use the luggage stands in the hotel rooms, had to put my bags on the floor or lift them onto to the bed in order to open them all the way. I didnt enjoy sitting on the floor digging through my bags nor do I like putting luggage on the bed after its been in the belly if a plane and on various shuttles. This Hanke just went with me to Mexico and it was way, way easier for me to manage!! Nothing I don't like about it and I'm once again able to lift the lid easily whenever I need to get inside. I love the nice neutral grey-beige color. The handles and the wheels work smoothly and feel like decent quality. I really didn't want to have to buy more luggage but I'm so glad I did. I started with a larger bag, loved it so much, I just got the carry for my trip in January. The carryon has a compartment in the front for my laptop. Great luggage!

Lightweight, convenient, super-sturdy yet spacious
I had been looking for a replacement to my disheveled 15 year old (and relatively heavy at 12 lbs) Briggs & Riley soft carryon and was really kicked about discovering this piece. Wanted to get a decent yet inexpensive hardcase but everything else looked either too flimsy, too heavy, not really 22x14x9 (this one is pretty close) or that awful clamshell design (which is why I had stuck to soft cases up until now). Not only was it quite light for its polycarbonate design (see pics), but it is super-sleek looking, moves like silk, really sturdy in feel and form and overall pretty spacious for its size. I haven't used it as a check-in yet, but it works really well in the overhead carryon bins - easy to lift and get in or out, and glides smoothly when getting in and out of the plane. It has two small pockets for wet & dry laundry and nothing superfluous. The two TSA latches work really well.I like this carryon and its overall design so much that I'm considering getting one of the larger check-ins next. I see that the carryon price has come down by a few bucks since I purchased it for 175, so I'd say this is a terrific bargain, well worth it, especially compared to the more expensive name-brand clamshells with unnecessary bells and whistles.Pros: everythingCons: nothing

Great Luggage for International Trips and Small Hotel Livin
I was impressed at how much this luggage could hold considering it was mostly a one sided luggage. It was incredibly functional especially when it came to living in really tight spaces in Japan for two weeks with another person. The lock was never really tested to any degree, but it gave me a sense of security knowing that my stuff was extra protected while in transit. After banging it around in Japan for two weeks, I really don't see any scratches or wear and tear, so this speaks to the durability of the luggage. Even the wheels still work just as wonderful as the first day I had it. The four wheels that move multi directionally was a life saver! I barely felt like I was pulling it behind me and it was super easy to have in the upright position while walking around. The zippers moved very nice and the inside pouch that is water proof was perfect for keeping documents I collected dry while traveling. I definitely plan on buying more to complete my set.

Very well made, fits in over-head bin of Delta Connection's CRJ-900, and NOT a clam shell design
I don't like the clam shell luggage. You have to be careful when closing/opening a lid that holds half of your clothes. If it has a full divider that zips closed, then that's "less bad". But you are still closing a heavy lid. All the hard luggage seems to be like this. But not this one. It's a well-made hard luggage with a top lid instead of the clam shell design. I was concerned about how well the wheels would roll on carpet. I was impressed. It rolls smoother than my Samsonite carry-on. I wanted to test what I saw on one of the videos. So I sat on it while waiting for my flight. No damage (175 lbs). Interior dimensions are 18.5" long, 14" wide, and 8" tall (see where the measuring tape bends in the attached pictures). The lid adds one more inch to the height for a total of 9" interior height. Exterior dimensions, including wheels and handles, are 22", 15", and 9.75". This carry-on is just slightly smaller than my "largest allowed" Samsonite carry-on. But it fit in the Delta Connection CRJ-900 over-head bin (the largest allowed carry-on does not fit, which is why I bought this one). It's made in China (I prefer made in USA, but I couldn't find one that was not "clam shell").The negatives1. it has one handle on the top ("wide" side) and one on the side ("long" side). It should have one more on the bottom (the other "wide" side"). At the hotel, if you open it and then need to move it, you can grab a handle on each side and move it without having to close it (which I often do with my other luggage).2. The TSA lock works, but it looks flimsy. Maybe it is not, but that's what it seems. So far, I have not had a problem with it, so in the long run, I may be proven wrong (I hope so).Fix these two negatives (both minor), and you get 5 stars!!
