perfect fit for iMac 27"
I've always made my own using foam core in the past, but got lazy this time around. iLooker fits great, really blocks the light and doesn't get in the way of using the Color Munki monitor calibration system. I'd buy again without hesitation.

Quality build, attractive and highly functional — but there's room for improvement.
This hood features excellent build construction and serves my needs well as a hood to shield stray light from hitting my 27" iMac monitor. The hood is attractive and aesthetically matches the aluminum body of the iMac. I use it in conjunction with the DataColor SpyderPro4 color calibration system. Installation definitely takes two sets of hands to properly install: one set to hold the hood; the other pair of hands to snuggly tighten the velcro straps on the back of the monitor. The rich black velvet makes for a jet black hood interior, thereby completely eliminating any reflection on the monitor glass. I give this product 4 rather than 5 stars for two simple but important oversights:1) The hood lacks a cut-out for DVD/CD port. This is not a deal breaker, but it's a pain when you have to dismantle the hood in order to get access to the drive.2) PRO: I'm pleased the iLooker product designers included a small plastic clip — a critical piece of hardware, due to the fact the monitor becomes top heavy, and swings back when the hood is attached. The clip is meant to attach to the power cord to fix the monitor at a comfortable angle. CON: Unfortunately, the provided clip is too small to hold the cable against the iMac's L-shaped pedestal. The clip tends to slip through the large cable hole on the back of the pedestal. DIY Solution: use a medium-size plastic snack bag clip instead of the provided clip. The snack clip securely holds the monitor at just the right angle! See included photo.

The best monitor hood for a 27" iMac
I actually have 3 of these monitor hoods (2 on 27" iMacs and 1 on a 27" Thunderbolt display). I color correct 100s of images a day and I discovered that using a monitor hood on my displays really helped keep my color corrections more consistent. Compared to the other "make-fit" monitor hood alternatives out there this one works much better. As mentioned in another review, the clip that keeps the display from tilting down is a little small for the job, but it works fine. I also discovered that if this hood is mounted on a 27" Thunderbolt display, the display remains in place even without the clip. There's a reason that most professional displays come with a monitor hood. If you've got a 27" iMac or 27" Thunderbolt display, I highly recommend this hood.

Heavy and cumbersome
This review has been modified from my initial review. The actually hood is too heavy for the Mac Monitor that I purchased it for, and the weight makes the screen drop into its lowest position. . There is a clip included to help solve this problem, but I sent it back before trying that. It would be better if the weight was taken care of in the design, instead of with a clip after the fact. The foam buffer mounted on the inside (I believe as a light leak prevention) was torn and falling off before I even got it out of the box. The concept is good, but I don't believe the quality justifies the cost.

Not good because of one thing
I so wanted this to work for me because I work in convention halls that have fluorescent light beaming down and changing the appearance of my computer screen. This one attached to my 27inch IMac perfectly and had the potential to block the ambient light. The issue is that the visor weighs a lot, which causes the screen to go to the lowest point. Now they include a clip in the box that you are suppose to attach to the power cord right at the opening of the imac stand. It kept popping out. There was no mention of the clip in their directions and actually found the info on here of how to configure. I tried my best to get it right but failed. The only way I could get it to work was using larger spring clamps that did not allow the back of the monitor come closer to the stand. Overall, I am looking for a better solution. This is almost $100 and I thought it would work like a $100 item. Sending back because totally frustrated!

Does what it is supposed to do.
Not that many options for my 27" Mac monitor. This one gets the job done. It took over a month to arrive though...

Love it!
Helps a ton with reflection and covering the windows when it's super bright outside. One thing I wish was that the sides were longer... I thought they looked huge already but after using for a few months, I definitely could get a larger one.

Works okay, just forces the screen to tilt downward
It's okay, does the job. It does make the iMac screen top-heavy, and forces it to tilt down. You have to prop it up with something to keep it from tipping down. Wish there was a better solution.
