FluvalGravelVAC Multi Substrate Cleaner Small (50cm)

Tried it the night I got it! Worked great on my 29 gallon, it siphons out about a gallon a minute on the low setting. It doesn’t pull the gravel up too much which I liked so I could get deep into the gravel and vacuum the waste.

I was always intimidated to do gravel cleanings as I used a much bigger tool and just didn't do it right at all. I found this product for my 20gallon and it's super easy to use and I didn't mess up at all this time.The only criticism I have is the clip for the hose in the bucket, the holes are much bigger than the tube so if you're not paying attention the tube can slip out with all the water inside of it. I'm going to have to figure out how to keep it in place. This isn't a deal breaker though as the rest of the product works great!I feel comfortable doing gravel cleanings on my own now.I recommend!I also wanted to note, in terms of the shipment. It came inside an Amazon package bag so it wasn't damaged in transit. Some reviews said they received just the box that was damaged. During checkout sometimes there is a option to select no additional shipment packaging so make sure this isn't checked at checkout so that your package is ship wrapped.

This thing is almost perfect! The only thing I wish is that the suction tube came in a larger diameter. That being said, for a 20 gallon tank this is probably the best gravel vac I've ever used. My first time using this as opposed to the junk they sell in the big name pet stores and I was able to do a water change without getting my hands wet. The flow control regulator is excellent for a 20 gallon tank, no longer will you suction out 5 gallons of water in 30 seconds. I was able to extract all the detritus in the gravel with the flow regulator closed almost all the way. You can watch it suction all the black stuff out and leaving the gravel alone; finished the entire cleaning by filling a 5 gallon bucket!

The box it came in was squished and broken a bit, but the product itself wasnt damaged. It worked well, but I found the flow adjuster a little hard to use with my aquarium being a bit higher and my hands being somewhat smaller than what I feel would be best for this product.

Used this and it works great, suction is really good. Doesn't drain my 20 long aquarium fast like my other one did, really like this product. Highly recommend.

Stopped functioning after two uses. Required more effort than expected to get it started (i.e., repeated, rapid, hard squeezes of the bulb), for those first two uses. I presume that there's an issue with the bulb.

The control valve plastic broke in a week. We still use it but it is hard to manage the flow. It worked good when it worked correctly.

I've been keeping freshwater planted aquariums for nearly 15 years, and I've always struggled with the age-old manual siphon method of water changes. I've tasted my tank water, spilled my tank water, sucked up fish & shrimp, and otherwise suffered needlessly with the inconvenience wrought by a regular silicon tube for cleaning the substrate and removing water weekly.Recently, I've finally upgraded my water change equipment for my 30 gallon tank. I've replaced the orange 5 gallon buckets with a bigger gray rubber trash can that has much greater capacity for holding water and organizing all of the related gear when not in use. I got a small fountain pump/powerhead for returning clean water from the trash can back up into the tank (rather than getting the buckets high enough to pull a siphon). And, I got this gravelvac with bulb-powered siphon and adjustable flow.The whole design is perfect for my purposes. All of the plastic does seem a bit cheap, and I wonder how long before one piece or another breaks. But I like the length of the flexible tubing. I like the little bracket that snaps onto a bucket to prevent accidental spillage. I like that it comes with multiple intake tube lengths right out of the box (the longer one is perfect for my 30g tall tank). I like the thumb-adjustable valve to control the flow; it allows for a much slower cleaning process, which means more thorough cleaning without disturbing the tank in my rush to clean everything before extracting too much water). And, of course, I like the bulb for starting the siphon, so I don't have to taste dirty tank water ever again.Money well spent. I just wish I'd done it years ago.

I have purchased 3 vacuums in the last 2 month, this is by far the most well constructed.

Gratamente satisfecho en como se inicia el bombeo. Le he puesto una malla de rejilla para que no se cuelen las gravas en el regulador de flujo.

Good for cleaning aquariums with regulated suction power

Cercavo uno strumento più semplice da gestire rispetto a quello che avevo già. La presenza della pompetta è stata determinante. Senza di questa è molto difficile riuscire a far scorrere l'acqua nel tubo. Oltre alla pompetta è presente una levetta che consente di variare il flusso di acqua in modo da limitare l'aspirazione della ghiaia. Altra piccola cosa che in realtà è utilissima è un fermo che consente di fissare il tubo al secchio in cui si scarica l'acqua, evitando cosi di rischiare di farlo inavvertitamente uscire e bagnare per terra. I materiali mi sembrano buoni e robusti. Consigliato.
