Fool proof rice.
I am a pretty decent cook but perfect rice (before this machine) was a hit or miss proposition. I looked at buying resources for the best rice machines and this one made Top 3 and was very reasonably priced.Making rice has never been so simple - add your rice and water (or other liquid) and press the button(s) needed, then wait for it to beep. It gives a short beep to let you know 10 minutes are left and then beeps longer when finished. Great rice every single time! All the buttons made me sigh at first, but they were easy to identify and figure out. I prefer intuitive over having to read the manual. The beauty of this machine is that it figures out all the hard part for you, like how much longer if you double the amount of grain for more people. The differences between grains, like brown and white rice, bulgar, etc. They include a steam basket. I haven't used this function yet. They went with the British slang for oatmeal with the "porridge" button. And yes, it makes decent oatmeal too. Rice is my mainstay tho and here's my tip: Use 1 part rice to 1.5 part liquid - add 1T oil or butter - fluff the rice with the included paddle once finished. My last rice maker was expensive and burned rice on the bottom more often than not...so I wasn't expecting much. I really lucked out with this choice.

Works Well and Looks Fine
It was time to finally replace my rice cooker after ten years. I wanted one with a stainless steel inner pot--nonstick isn't necessary for rice and who needs the possibility of leaching into the food? The rice cooker looks good and doesn't take up a lot of counter space. The low-carb cooking feature is a plus. We don't always prep the rice that way because we prefer a stickier texture. The timer when using this feature is frustrating. It displays 25 the entire time--then suddenly it's done. Compared to expensive fuzzy logic cookers and traditional one-button cookers, this one is a great value.

Easy to use takes about 1 hour to make great brown rice. Requires a little more clean up time.

Works Well for Me
I had been wanting a small rice cooker that wasn’t too expensive but also had good features like “fuzzy logic”, steamer capabilities and a non-Teflon based inner pot. The Yum Asia Kumo had these features and after watching several online video, going to the companies website and reading the reviews I could find I bought it. The rice cooker came in a nice package and the instructions were clear. The black stainless finish is nice. So far I’ve used it to cook rice in the main pot while simultaneously steaming dumplings and broccoli using the steamer basket. It came out well. I also cooked steel cut oats which came out great. I like the fact I can make a 1/2 cup portion of rice or steel cut oats without any problems. So far, I’m impressed with the rice cooker. Some concerns though. You can’t remove the top lid of the pot to clean it. So far not a problem, but wonder if you have a boil over? The silicone gasket is attached to the top lid and appears not to be removable or replaceable? I like the fact the inner pot is ceramic coated but don’t have any long term experience on how it will hold up.

It has an Achilles Heel
The water drainage reservoir is a small plastic part that seems insignificant until you buy this rice cooker. I saw the reviews that complained about it and thought “that doesn’t sound too bad”. Well it is. The stupid thing doesn’t really stay in the rice cooker - and is easily dislodged accidentally, resulting in water going everywhere. Then after enough times, the cheap plastic item breaks and is no longer capable of holding water at all, so Emmy counter gets soaked if I use the cooker.I really like this rice cooker, but this 50 cent part has made it unusable for me and it’s way too late to return it. What a frustrating waste.
