Q: Can they be left out in the winter please hundreds of birds love it

I left mine out until November then put it away until March. I think itwould be OK in a sheltered spot but if the wind was to catch it and fling it off where you have hooked it onto solid ground then I don't think it would survive. Mine is on its second year and still looks and shines like new.

Q: could you put water in this as a water feeder or would it leak out?

You can put water in (it is solid) but it would be very shallow.
