Great Soil Conditioner For Starving Plants
This review is for Organic Fertilizer for Vegetable Garden - Humic and Fulvic Acids Soil Plant Meal. I’ve only heard of the benefits of humic acid this year and have been wanting to try it for myself ever since. I have some hydrangeas that are thriving and a few that seem to be struggling despite being treated the same in terms of watering and fertilizing schedule. I’ve tried kelp meal, crab meal, bird guano, and fish bone meal and I saw some improvements but nature takes time. When I heard that humic acid helps enhance the plant’s ability to absorb essential nutrients and improve the structure of the soil, I was convinced that this had to be my problem. Humigenix is supposed to be a 100% organic and plant based soil conditioner with 64% humic acid and 3% fulvic acid. Sounds fantastic! I couldn’t wait to try it on my struggling hydrangeas. I used about 2 tsp of this powder to 2 gallons of water and deep soaked their roots with the mixture. I didn’t follow the daily regiment but a week later, I can see some noticeable results with less browning leaves and more new leaf growth. I think conditioning the soil might have helped the plants to absorb the fertilizers that I had sprinkled around their base earlier. However, it could be a combination of other factors - cooler temperature, more rainfall, etc. It is still too early for me to say so without long term use. Although, I do trust the studies that claim the benefits of humic acid and I will continue to use this product on other plants. For the high price, you only get 1.38lbs (625g) in a nice sealable bag, but seeing how little of it I’ve used so far per application, I think it is justifiable. Finally, I like that I didn’t have to wait 24 hours to apply it after mixing or needed to add maple syrup, etc. It was as simple as just adding water and using it, which I really like. Overall, I thought this was an easy soil conditioner to use. If it came with a scooper it would have been nicer but luckily I had one on hand. I would definitely recommend it and I’d give it 4.8/5.0 -09/09/2022.

Organic boost to increase nutrient uptake in poor soil
Humic and Fulvic Acids Soil Plant MealI have received but have not used this additive, so my rating is based on the science behind the product rather than observable results. I am an organic, raised-bed gardener and do all my own composting and mostly use natural, homemade fertilizers. I have achieved very satisfactor results in beds that have been established for a year or more, but I do have several beds created this year using a mix of sand, silt, and mushroom compost that I brought in by the truckload in spring. That soil mix has been great for greens but less so for peppers and tomatoes. This off-season, I'll treat those beds with an inch or two of compost and top with a cover crop or a layer of dead leaves mixed with grass clippings and they will be ready to go next year. In the meantime, peppers and tomatoes planted in that mix are not doing as well as they could and I think that is because I don't have a good network of mycorrhizal fungi in there. The mycorrhizal fungi help plants uptake nutrients and are present in well-maintained no-till gardens. These beds being new and not yet treated with leaf litter and compost, do not have that benefit. If the science is correct, these humic and fulvic acids should help plants in those new beds uptake more nutrients and finish strong in what is left of my growing season. This is an organic product. The product come in poweder form and the bag contains 1.38 pounds of product. The dilution rate for my needs is 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water - it will treat many hundreds of gallons of water. I hand water my peppers and tomatoes with 5-gallon bucket, so 45 teaspoons per bucket and one bucket for each plant. This is a very economical additive and I have high hopes that it will produce results quickly. I will update - good or bad - as results indicate.

curious for more information on best practices
I added this soil conditioner to my spring bulb containers as I planted them and I am looking forward to see in couple of months what results this conditioning will bring. I am not sure at this stage if it brings any benefit to the bulbs themselves but hope that the benefit for the conditioned soil will last. I understand the process of application, but how often should I do that? Does it need to be reconditioned again at all or just from the added fertilizer? This is a black powder medium which is easy to use. I believe this could be a good booster to "tired" soil, but I would like to know when is the best time to add it? Is it fall or spring? Does it help to improve soil by adding it in the fall or is it a waste of product because nothing is planted at that time? I guess I have more questions than answers at this point. But I will see the results in spring, because it seems to me that it would make the most sense. I think some extra information about this product would help to understand better the use of it and truly experience all it has to offer.

Good quality soil conditioner
We're just in the learning process for growing home vegetable gardens, and this soil conditioner is something we wanted on hand as we plant. I love that it's organic and considered safe. We're hoping to stay as organic as possible. We'll be using it for our veggies in the near future and will report back.
