The media could not be loaded. I am just an average person. A first time Grandma, 4 kids, three girls, one boy, all but the boy is grown and out of the nest. The boy is 16. I saw this beautiful leather-bound book quite by accident. One day it showed up in my Amazon feed and I was immediately intrigued!In looking at the details, I completely missed the fact it was actual real leather. I noticed it looked like leather but let’s be honest with one another here, when something is advertised “real leather!!” I am ALWAYS doubtful it will be REAL LEATHER, and actually look or feel like it. Am I right?This book is ACTUALLY REAL LEATHER. When I took it out of the envelope (which had been opened before I received it for some reason, it didn’t have to clear customs so really why was it opened????) I noticed the weight was fairly substantial. It was in plastic wrapping, which was sealed. I opened the wrapping (while standing in my driveway, next to my husband) and immediately smelled the book. It took me back to days of leather horse saddles and leads, of being in a high quality leather goods store and also the smell of our (my hubs and I’s) expensive, leather Harley Davidson jackets. I knew immediately it was REAL ACTUAL LEATHER. My hubs saw what I was opening and he immediately exclaimed “Wow, that’s really cool babe!” (Please know for this to come from my hubs who is RARELY complimentary on much at all unless it’s a shiny, new HD, or big pick-up truck) 😂As I turned it over in my hands the feel of the leather was truly exquisite. It’s very smooth and velvety but firm. I undid the simple strap which wraps around the book to keep it closed when not in use, and found the pages to be beautifully thick and luxurious. I believe the paper to be thick enough for oil, acrylic paint, definitely for all kinds of drawing and writing mediums to include ink, charcoal and regular colored pencils. The pages of the one I chose are yellowish with dark brown edging, almost as if someone took a lighter and ran it around the outer edges causing a real antique, old feel. That pattern is random for the top, bottom and ends of every single page. The pages themselves are pliable, but very thick imagine asking the grocery store cashier/bagger to put your ice cream in the heavy duty paper bag to help keep it cold longer (just to give you an idea but in no way is the paper constructed in a mass production paper mill like heavy duty paper bags would be).Included within the first few pages is a card from the seller “Leather Village”. It wishes the owner to feel the “peace and love” that went into the making of the journal. The Artisan who made the journal signed the insert.The binding is just as artistic, with a pattern stitched through it.I CANT STOP ADMIRING IT. I get such a feeling of peace and comfort from holding and feeling the pages. Just knowing what my intentions are for the journal (it’s going to be an heirloom for my granddaughter and I plan on writing, sketching and painting throughout the journal) so my granddaughter will know “me”.This journal would truly be an amazing gift for ANY Artist or writer. If you are looking for something to really make a lasting impression on a loved one, or for a unique gift that will inspire and motivate someone THIS IS IT. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Weight feels really good as it’s light enough to carry but heavy enough to know it’s there, it wouldn’t hurt if you got hid in the head for example but you’d notice it. The color is nice and natural. Bleed through is noticeable but not horrible. Some of the pages weren’t there but it’s not a loss for the cost. Overall a great quality for what you pay for a hand made book for writing or any other stationary art.

What an elegant leather journal. It smells good and feels good in the hand. I have the small one. The paper is of good quality. All fountain pens are not the same. I first used my Waterman that has a nib for smooth flowing ink and this pen did not work. I switched to another of my Cross pens. It works perfectly because the pages need a fountain pen that "scratches." You can do collages, paint and write. I'm using this journal to record my recipes for essential oil concoctions and to record results of my work. I'm imagining apothecaries of old, the old women in the forest, their magic, etc. I recommend this product.

I am so impressed with this book! The workmanship is gorgeous and is in the details. 1st, the leather binding is beautiful and smells so good. Every page of the paper is different from all the rest. It is such high quality. I have never in my life experienced quality this amazing. The pages are really thick and absorbs the perfect amount of color.I use it for artwork that I do in therapy. My therapist fell in love with the book so I ordered another one as a gift for her. She gives so much of herself to me that I really wanted to bless her. She only charges me $10.00 a session and I’m a hard case with severe trauma I’m overcoming. I wrapped it beautifully in tissue paper with a bright red bow. I was just shocked at her reaction! When she opened it she just sat there staring for what seemed like an eternity then suddenly she burst into tears! She was totally overcome with emotion. I wrote in the first page what she means to me and after reading it she burst into tears again. She was caressing it like it was a new baby. She was smelling the leather and feeling the pages like she just couldn’t get enough of it. I’m still amazed at her reaction. If you know someone that journals or does art buy this as a gift. It will absolutely not disappoint!
