Unplug when you’re not in the car.
This plug in cooler bag is perfect for car trips. My husband drives a lot and the cooler keeps all his food and drinks cold. Remember to unplug when getting out because you may find you need a new battery!

Started Smoking after 2 uses
this is not worth your money! I used it twice and it made an awful smell and was smoking, all the food was hot. Its portability is good, would be great for traveling the noise level was very quiet. IT QUITS WORKING

Nice cooler but the electric fans are not so good
The cooler is really nice. Easy to use, works well, kept my food cold on a long roadtrip. That said, I would not recommend you purchase one of these if you don't like constant anoying noise in your car. There are one or two electric fans built inside the unit, and they work, but their design is faulty. The fan blades hit their enclosure while running and make a LOT of noise, that is totally distracting while driving my car and trying to listen to music. The problem with the fans is, their manufactured blade-to-housing clearance tolerance is too tight, an the fan bearings themselves are really sloppy.I found that if the cooler was set upright as it should be, the fans' blades hit their enclosure so much that the fans actually slowed down from the mechanical friction, and made horribly loud noises. If I put the cooler on it's side, the fans got quieter and sped up a bit. I ended up putting the cooler upside-down on the back seat of my car, and doing that made the fans much quieter- livable but still annoying.I am a retired electronics design engineer, and I've specified snd used a LOT of 12 volt DC fans in my history. A quality fan of this size should be dead quiet. Cheap fans always have this problem. My guess is the fans in this unit probably use sloppy shaft bushings rather than ball bearings. Cheap fans made with shaft bushings are notorious for this kind of problem. Gravity makes the fan shaft change position as it's turned on its side or upside down, and with too-tight blade clearances this is exactly the kind of noise cheap fans make.I'm not going to send this back to Amazon for a replacement, because Im pretty sure another one of these units will behave just the same. It's not worth the shipping cost to Amazon, or the energy it takes to return and replace one of these.Instead, I will void my warrenty, take the cooler apart, and replace the cheap fans with decent ones that work. I'm a total hardware hacker and doing stuff like this is very satisfying to me.Unless you're able an willing to do this, don't buy one of these- get something more expensove an better made....FURTHER NOTES:I took the thing apart and there is only one fan motor, with doubel shafts and two fan blades. and indeed, the motor was made with junky plastic bearings that have much too much slop.Instead of trying to change the bearings, I instead just scrapped the entire motor and fan bades, and replaces them with two silent brushless DC pancake fans, one inside the cooler and on on the outside. It now works really well.Last, the thing was made to be very difficult to take apart. There are 6 or so metal screws that hold the fan mechanism into the soft case. But once those screws were installed, the manufacturer pushed in plastic plugs over the screw tops that are not removable. I had to pry thee screws out and damage the threaded plastic holes that the screws went into. I replaced the original screws with some slightly larger in diameter, so they will thread in and hold. This was an easy job for a geek, but not a job for the meek.Bottom line, if you are not a hacker and willing to modify the chiller fans, dont bother buying one of these. They will do nothing but annoy you. Bad design. Just sayin...

The bag has two fans for circulating the air inside and one fan to dispense the heat on the outside.
The fans are slightly loud and the cooling mechanism can build up with ice and the fan will then stop spinning.

Warning
My husband is a truck driver and was using this in his brand new Freightliner. Started smelling smoke and the cord of the cooler was smoking he pulled it out and it was very hot and had melted the pieces of plastic. He loved this cooler of course just out of 30 day warranty for exchange or repair. June 7 was cut off day. So he had it about 5 weeks. Not a good price for something that only lasts this long.
