Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun. It will stretch from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues; to the vast and savage eastern lands; and all the way to the frozen north, where an 800-foot wall of ice protects the kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords, and honest men...all will play the Game of Thrones.Bonus Content:Special Feature 2: World of Westeros, & SD version of Guide to Westeros Special Feature 3: Creating the Dothraki Language Special Feature 4: Mapping Titles: Creating the Show Open Special Feature 5: Anatomy of episode 6 Bonus Features: • Blu-ray Complete Guide to Westeros • In-Episode Guide • Anatomy of an Episode • Hidden Dragon Eggs • [Plus All DVD Features above]]]>

The best fake 4K yet ... cancelled my return.
I have both the BD and the UHD sets of Season 1, and after watching Ep. 1 of UHD (Oppo UPD-205, LG OLED 65", Dolbyvision), I was initially disappointed that it did not have the "Fury look"... the look of a 4K+ capture and 4K DI, and I started the Amazon return process. As an afterthought, I watched the BD versions of Season 1 Ep.1, and I knew from the initial 60 seconds (raising the gate through the Wall to go North) that I had to cancel the return of the UHD. I have returned other "fake 4K" releases ... but HBO worked transcoding magic on this set. The detail in the snow, for instance. In the BD, the snow in the North looks like snow... in the UHD, the snow looks like fake snow if you study it. The detail in the face of the Wall, from dripping icicles in the Wall tunnel, the detail and lighting effects on fleshtones, are dramatically better in the UHD, esp. the high contrast scenes, e.g., candle-lit rooms. The excellent upscaling in the Oppo of a BD source falls far short of what the UHD in the same player does. I wouldn't believe fake 4K could look this good unless I saw it with my own eyes.

I finally made it to the party
This is my very first experience with Game of Thrones. I was sold after episode 1. I’ve been needing this and I know, I am late to the party. I’ve been busy-so, sorry:) I love this show, truly. It is beautiful to watch and the acting and dialogue are captivating. I am sold on just about every actors performance, the locations, the emotional and brutal realities of this fantastical world. I’ve had this series on my long list of recommendations from friends and family alike. I’m both invested and inspired by just this 1st season alone. The features/extras are wonderfully illustrated and entertaining. I hardly write any reviews. This first season has me thirsting for more and I can’t wait:) I am happy and thrilled to share my thoughts with any of you who care to read it. I’m excited to finally have a story to be into and to have finally arrived to this mysterious and magical world. I cannot wait for more!

Thumbs Up
Probably the best show HBO has ever had. Definitely a good watch, ignore all the whiners about the last season. It was still good.

A real grabber...
Seems like we started watching this when it first came out, and were turned off by the excess of sex and innuendo.I realize it was probably a large part of life in those days, but we never went back to it...then last month, I got a 'short' of the dragon scenes in the series and had to see what it was, since I'm really into dragons now...bought the 1st season and watched it to the end (2 episodes per night), where the female lead became the 'Dragon Woman'....hooked now....just took delivery of season 2 and 3....still a lot of sex, but the story line is engrossing...have to keep watching it to find out who is more treacherous, who lies, and who kills to keep the throne....the costumes and scenery are really good as well...

The Season that Started the GOT Juggernaut
This is the one that started it all, and it's still the best of all of the seasons of GOT in my opinion. The acting, costumes, props, cinematography, and direction are all first rate. It's obvious that a whole lot of time, effort, and love went into bringing George R. R. Martin's sprawling epic to the screen. Sure, in adapting such a massive tome to fit within a televised ten episode season, some characters and plot threads were lost/combined/changed, but this season is the closest to the books of all of them. The performances of Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams, Sean Bean, Mark Addy, Conleth Hill, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, and Jerome Flynn are not to be missed. I simply adore this show, and in particular, this season.
