Q: Would this tie be too big for a 12-year old?

The width of the tie is the latest style, but the length could be ok depending on how tall the 12 year old is and how you tie the tie. I think you will be ok if you tie it so that both ends are the same length once tied.

Q: Is this a plum color or purple?

It is much more plum than a dark purple, but then plums come in many shades. It is definitely not a dark purple. It is a very nice color.

Q: is the green in the black and green tie dark green or like a kelly green?

I really don't know. I bought a navy and silver tie. But that looks more Kelly green to me. Hope I helped.
