Sun dial
Bought it for curiosity and cool factor. Time is kinda close, takes practice. Keep on key ring. Conversation piece. Also bought the one for night. Definitely has cool factor.

Cool, although obviously not practical
Yeah, I already have a watch. Don't really "need" this, but I've always been fascinated by sundials and this is no exception. Writing this review after only a couple days, and it's been foggy so I can't say how accurate it is, but the instructions are simple and easy to memorize so it's easy and fun to use. You will need to know your latitude though, so if you're traveling with it things may get more complex. The general feel and weight of it is near ideal. Feels sturdy and the pieces move easily.Someone else commented on the "cute case". I disagree. The case mine came in is a piece of cork with an indentation cut in it too hold the item and a paper sheath that slides over it similar to how a matchbox closes. The cork I suspect is good for storage as it will absorb moisture and slow down corrosion, but it's obviously not meant for display. My only real complaint is that I didn't notice beforehand how short the string attached to it actually is. I was thinking to wear it as a pendant while hiking but the string on it is too short to even use as a bracelet. I guess you could attach it to a backpack or hang it off a zipper maybe, but if I had realized this I'd've ordered a chain or something to put it on at the same time. FYI to anyone thinking to do this, the hole your strap has to fit through is exactly 5mm. Most jewelry chains will fit this, if you want a braided leather (or faux leather) strap, these come in 3mm, 4mm, or 5mm diameters. The 5mm strap probably won't allow the pendant to slide properly and so I would recommend getting a thinner one.Other issues: you have to set the slider to the approximate date. The space for the months of January and December is less than for the other months. This will throw off the accuracy during those months. Maybe not by much, but it will make a difference. Although, if you're using a sundial to tell the time, hopefully you're not relying on precision. Also, the hole the sunlight has to pass through is exceedingly small. A larger, stationary sundial would still cast a useful shadow under conditions that this one wouldn't find bright enough to read. And speaking of reading... If you need reading glasses then you'll definitely need them for this too. The numbers are extremely small and not easy to make out.Still, better than guessing.

Love It
Made incredibly well. Gave as a gift and I am impressed at how well it’s made.Another reviewer said it’s greasy. What I gifted did not arrive greasy but this is a machine made item so some logic needs to be used when purchasing an item like this and take into consideration of how it is made/what it is.Works wonderfully and tells the time incredibly well. Super neat to look at all of the details and learn how to use it.It is such a wonderful gift I will buy again and gift to others. I’m impressed at the weight of it and how everything feels. Came in a cute container.

Numbers are not crystal clear like the images
This is an outstanding and interesting instrument! It is well made and comes in a very good storage pack. The only problem I had with this unit is, when I received it, the indented lettering is missing the black in some of the indented lettering (this is a QA problem), this made the device "look" cheaper. Would I recommend this to someone, absolutely. It is the perfect gift for the person that "has everything". It can be "conversational starter" when displayed hanging from a nice stand on a person's desk.
