It works wonderfully!
I was kinda hesitant to buy a starter from Amazon, especially from the company I've never heard about. I had to have my car running as soon as possible though so I pulled the trigger. When it arrived, I took it out of the box and well... it was what I ordered, a starter lol. It looked exactly like the one I pulled out from the engine bay. What suprised me was a sheet of paper with all the testing done to it printed on it. Bigger surprise was that it said that it's a Bosch starter inside! Not sure if it's a remanufactured unit or not, it doesn't matter, as long as it's a real Bosch unit, I'm all for it! I really hope that it's true and not just some generic results printed and thrown into the box but so far, over a month of using this starter daily, it starts every time, with a nice fast zap from under the hood. I hope it's gonna last as long as the original starter lasted (17 years) but for the price, half of that time would also be great!

Perfect fit
I purchased this starter for my 2009 BMW 328i xdrive. I ordered it and it came in the next day, thanks to Amazon Prime. It was easy to install once you got all the parts off the top engine on the drivers side. If your going to change the starter on a BMW 3 series, you will find a few videos on youtube. Don't be discouraged. It looks like it will be impossible, but trust me, look at the videos and go step by step with the video. They all go thru each step one by one. Follow along pausing the video, till your ready for the next step. If you do that, you will see that it is not that difficult. Ok, that said, once you finally get down to the starter, you have two bolts in the front of the starter, which you won't have any problem taking off. But there is a bolt in the back of the starter up against the transmission. On the videos they didn't really show anyone taking that bolt off. I am a Handyman and i tried everything i could think of and could not take it off. For two days on and off i got in there and it would not budge. I was about to call some auto places to see who could come and take it off for me. But then i was looking at the starter and i realized that the bolt i was trying to remove went thru a hole in the car frame but it only had threads on about 1 to 1 and half inches which meant it only screwed into the starter coming in from the back. The bolt is 5 to 6 inches long. So knowing that it only screwed into the starter, i cut off the part of the bolt sticking past the starter, then got a drill bit and drilled that aluminum bolt like butter. Then i just shook the starter and it came right off with no damage to nothing just the old starter, but that was being replaced anyway so no big deal. What took me 2 days, i cut the bolt up to the starter, then drilled the bolt and off it came, in less that 5 min. So if you don't feel like wasting time trying to get that back bolt off, drill it and i promise there is no risk at all. And once i put the new starter on and put all the parts back together, i put my key in and pushed the start button and its been almost 2 months and my Beamer starts like a brand new car. With no hesitation. Great Starter, i highly recommend it.

Starter will not crank only clicks
Mechanic called and told me that i needed to come to the shop. When i got there he showed the bad starter he pulled out and the new starter i bought that he installed. He checked all voltages to starter and solenoid and the starter clicks but does not crank the motor. This cost me alot of money for the starter to be defective and needs to be done again. Please send new starter that works or refund me for this defective starter. Mechanic thought it might have been opened and used the way it looked. The cost for the work that it will set me back at $65 an hour labor. VERY UN HAPPY WITH THIS !!

Works great
The starter worked great for my 07 bmw 335i n54 I’ve had it installed for over a month and no issues so far. Starter sounds a lot quieter than original which is a plus. Price for the starter is pretty cheap, I highly recommend this starter.

Works as advertised in my Z4
The starter works great. Just a note for anyone who hasn't replaced this on a Z4 before - you have to remove the entire manifold assembly to get to this. This is several hours of work - not the 15-20 minutes you would normally expect to replace a starter.

reasonable price
Replaced the original starter in my 2007 BMW 335i. The labor involved is the reason for the low rating. I hope it last a long time, so I don't have to pay another mechanic.
