Q: Is the fabric too thick for summer. ?

No, its perfect for summer. I wore them in the winter too. They look so nice I wore them to work.

Q: has anyone put these in the dryer? instructions do not use dryer but I know they'll end up in the dryer eventually. how much do they shrink?

I have put mine in the dryer and maybe they shrunk up a very little in length but that's about all. Mine were a medium blue and black. As always and I don't know why but blue ones are always a little shorter but not bad.
