Upgraded my PS3 in minutes
I bought this for a PS3 SuperSlim with only 12GB memory - after screwing this into the mount (available here: Sony PlayStation 3 Replacement Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Mounting Bracket) it slotted in easily and my PS3 instantly found the disk when booted up and formatted it.I have since installed several games and had no problems what-so-ever. There's not much to say about this other than it was well packaged and 500GB is more than adequate for what I need. I initially looked at a 320GB drive (which was still larger than I needed) but I wanted a trusted brand - I have used Western Digital external hard-discs for some time and felt confident that WD would provide a great device. WD are also pretty reaonsable price-wise, there are cheaper brands but I have read some horror stories and didn't want to risk a poor quality drive. There are also more expensive brands out there, but this represents a good middle ground of decent performance, excellent quality, and acceptable price. In a nutshell: Highly recommended to anyone requiring an 2.5 SATA drive, especially those wanting one to upgrade the storage space of a PS3 - it was a doddle.

Cheap, effective drive
My daughter dropped her laptop on its edge on to carpet but it somehow unfortunately damaged the hard drive, so her laptop was useless. Got this to do a home repair - hoping that I could revive the laptop (which was 4 years old) and extend its use mainly as an internet device . The Sata drive was really easy to install and it works very well. The laptop is back in use (typed this review on it) and has since been dropped again to no ill effect. The 500GB was fine for the machine I had (it was 500GB to start with) but may be a bit underpar compared to new drives where 1TB is standard. 500GB is plenty for us (and cheaper) as the machine is used mainly for internet browsing, wordprocessing for homeworks and some video download. We do not use it as a gaming machine or to store huge amounts of films, box sets etc. If you need a drive to do all that then you will need one with a bigger storage capacity.

Works fine, though arrived in plain brown unbranded package
The drive seems perfectly OK, and is working fine in my laptop so far (just restoring from an image backup as I speak). It did, however, arrive sealed in its anti static bag but in a plain brown box with no documentation or branding of any kind on the box or packaging. The drive itself is clearly WD and exactly as per the photo - I presume it is new - I see some comments refer to it as recertified but I can't tell. Anyway, it works and that's the main thing!

Good product, fast, reliable
The product arrived promptly and very securely packaged, thanks to Amazon. The product itself is very great, a good hard drive. Was easy to install, and runs quietly and reliably.Looking at the picture provided with the listing, I wasn't entirely sure if the hard-drive would arrive 'bare', meaning I would have to get an extra cover - or if it would be with a cover and ready to install. Thankfully, it's a complete hard drive, and ready to install.

High quality, low cost hdd solution.
I purchased this to swap out a dying hdd on my daughters laptop. Using AOMEI freeware, and a USB hdd caddy, it was a simple task of cloning the 350GB hdd on to this 500GB drive. The new drive simply swapped in and was recognised as native without re-registering any software or losing data. The difference was immediately obvious. Access speeds of the drive are good and installation is straight forward. Build of the drive is robust and it is really everything you need in a replacement / new drive.I have used Western Digital drives on a number of builds and replacements over the years and I have always found them reliable. The Blue series is an affordable solution to disk replacement, particularly on older systems that are useful, but of relatively low value. As every laptop I have owned has died due to hdd failure, I would suggest it is worth £30-£40 to clone your hdd just in case.Recommended

Very Old Stock
I bought this to replace a failed drive in a notebook computer. This is 2018 the new drive i bought from this company was manufactured in 2012 that's 6 years ago. Any one buying a drive from this company check the manufacturing date.Although the drive was delivered quickly i was dismayed the drive was so old therefore no manufacturers guarantee. The drive is installed and working. Perhaps the company should advise it is old stock they are selling.

Easey Peasy. Makes me wonder why I worried.
Just swapped the old 120GB hard drive in my PS3 for this. No problems installing it into the console or installing the console software and restoring my backup data. I was a bit worried as it's thinner than my old hard drive, but it fitted beautifully. For anybody considering changing their hard drive, Sony has a very comprehensive list of what needs to be done in their website. Simply Google "changing PS3 Hard Drive" and the first hit will be what you need. They detail everything from how to back up your current data, to downloading and installing the console software. Beware, you will need to have an external hard drive formatted to FAT32 to be able to back up your current PS3 files. Feel free to send me an ask if you're not sure what to do. I'll try to help as best I can, however the majority of information is easily located on Google :)I hope to update within a month on how everything is going!

Reliable and faultless - after I set it up...
Now in use in a Packard Bell given me late August.I used Puppy Linux GParted to write a partition table, create 4 primary partitions, and install Linux and Windows as multiboot systems, plus a working data and archive partition. "Lin n Win" gives details on how to make multiboot systems.I mention this because numerous people don't know how to set up a brand new hard drive, think they are faulty, and then give bad reviews. This drive would not have done anything until set it up. It is a reliable stove and working faultlessly.
