lots of fun
Bought for my 4 year old son. This is one of his favourite games (despite the fact he's not particularly a big fan of football in general). The game arrived quickly, packaged well and in perfect condition. The box consist of 4 player boards, 4 football playing pieces with little plastic stands, a dice and 2 spinners. It is all made of thick, sturdy cardboard, that is holding up well after numerous times playing the game.To play the game you each have a playing board and football as a counter. You take in turns to roll the dice and move forward the number you roll. You can land on a footballer from your colour team who sends your counter further spaces forward, or a footballer from the opposing team who sends you back a few spaces. You can also land on a whistle, which means you have to use the ref spinner to find out the decision of free kick (you get to roll the dice again), yellow card (miss a turn) or red card (back to the start). The aim is to reach the goal area to you can take a shot. You do this by using the other spinner, where the arrow can stop over the goal keeper (saved) or in empty space (scored a goal). If you score a goal you have won the game, if the goal keeper has caught the ball you move back to a corresponding space on the board, shown by a black or white cross. The game works well with 2, 3 or 4 players. My son finds it a lot of fun and gets very excited when he gets to use a spinner. The game is great for teaching counting and light hearted competitiveness, as well as patience and turn taking. This isn't particularly a negative but it's important to know that you never know how long this game will last, it can range from a quick 5 mins until someone has scored a goal to over half an hour if you keep landing on opposing players or getting red cards. So maybe not the best game to play if you only have a few minutes to spare.I would definitely recommend this game.

Brilliant game
My 4 year old son absolutely loves this game! Similar to snakes and ladders with a few twists. Very easy for a 4 year old to understand, and he explains it to everyone who plays for the first time. I would say younger children who are capable of taking turns could play with some help. I love orchard toys games anyway but having one for a football obsessed child to maintain interest, where he is learning some important skills is fantastic! Have since purchased this game elsewhere as gifts for other children. The game board and spinners are made from durable card, and have lasted very well since he received the gift at Christmas, bearing in mind this game has been played very frequently. The only bit which is difficult for a child to do is inserting the playing pieces into the plastic stands, and this has caused slight damage to the card, however it does not effect gameplay.

The football never stops.
Nicely conceived variation on snakes and ladders. Roll a dice to progress. Landing on a teammate will "pass" you on a few steps, on an opposition player knocks you back a few. Landing on a while puts you at the referees mercy then get to the goal and hope the keeper doesn't save it. Not quite as simple as others in the orchard toys roster but my four year old and five year old grasped it soon enough. All is down to chance so it's inherently fair for all ages and cleverly winning the game elicits the same "goalllllll" or head in hands response of real football. Perfect for the rainy days halting little footballers fun.
