Acoustic Hits - MTV Unplugged

Beautiful album - never really appreciated before this album what an absolutely beautiful and emotionally stirring voice Morten has. Listening to this made me also realise how touching many of their lyrics are also. A wonderful way to rediscover their songs. Guest vocalists also add to the textures of the album and the musical orchestration and production is stunning. Personal favourites are a surprisingly stirring 'I've been losing you', a sublime 'Manhattan Skyline' and an absolutely killing (excuse the pun) 'Killing Moon'. My only regret is that I am now thinking I should have bought the 2 disc album!

I went to see a-ha at Cambridge on the Sunday only knowing their hit singles. Listened to the set and then bought this on the Monday.This is a beautiful album which shows the musicianship of the band and their supporting players plus the unique range of Morten Harket's voice plus some interesting guest vocalists.My wife was the a-ha fan but having seen them and listened to this constantly in the car since purchasing it, I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone with any interest in a-ha at all.a-ha should be very proud of this album and Norway should be very proud of a-ha.

Lovely interpretation of synth pop songs made much more poignant by simple backings and matured and elegiac vocals of Morten.

Really stirring stuff. Take on me is changed completely by being made acoustic. Don't listen to it if you are feeling sad, proper emotion stirrer!

Acoustic albums seem all the rage but this one is not as good as the original tracks in my view
