Fantastic when paired with the best headset/headphones.
Absolutely fantastic. Granted the A40 headset isn't great - hence I'm using just the mixamp. But when paired with my Sennheiser G4me One, it is unbeatable!! Finally get audiophile grade sound on your Xbox and it works perfectly. Also loving the fact I don't have any cables going into my controller anymore.Any questions about the setup just ask. i also have tried with the Kingston Hyperx Cloud II, Sennheiser HD600, Bose AE2, Creative Auravana.Sennheiser GAME ONE, Open Acoustic gaming headset - black is the best option to give you the highest quality of audio for your Xbox One... granted there are better soundcards for the PC, such as the Creative Sound Blaster E5...

Dolby Surround Sound Does Not Work
I bought this item to use with the Sennheiser GAME ONE, Open Acoustic gaming headset - black and my XBOX ONE. Setup was simple and involved attaching the console to the mixamp with the provided optical toslink cable and usb cable which were both very long. Finally the headset needed to be plugged into the provided Y adaptor and a couple of settings changed/confirmed on the console.I was vey impressed by both the quality of the product and it's packaging as well as the amount of accessories provided. I should also note that updating the mixamp is very easy and is as simple as connecting the device to a computer and downloading the Astro Command Centre software from the manufacturers website. This is available for Mac and PC. Updating takes seconds and the software also allows you to create your own presets. The device itself has four pre loaded press including astro's own mix as well as options for media etc.Now the area where this item achieves it's 1 star rating is it's Dolby Surround Sound mode which i primarily bought the item for. Unfortunately when the setting is active all bass is removed from the sound and when explosions or wind are in the scene there is an audible tinniness or echo. Almost like watching video on a pre smartphone mobile. Turning this mode off solves the problem and a rich bass returns with no distortion. I have now tried this with 2 separate units and multiple headsets from different manufacturers and the issue persists. Further investigation online highlights this as a "known" fault that is affecting many people. Sure the mixamp works without DD but I can achieve the same thing (stereo sound) by plugging the headset into the controller of either an xbox one or ps4. Another issue being that there are two versions of this amp, one for xbox one (this one) and one for PS4 (the black one).So unfortunately until the manufacturer delivers a fix (software or hardware) this item can't be recommended despite it's many positives because one of it's core features simply does not work.

Streamlined cabling and powerful customisation options let down by poor quality audio.
I'm a long time Astro customer and have used their products for many, many years now. After acquiring an Astro A50 headset recently, I was disappointed in the hardware: noticeable hissing from the right ear cup—supposedly 'normal', according to Astro Support, due to the extra circuitry required for the wireless receiver embedded within, and frequent system lockups where—due to the lack of a hard reset button—were resolvable only through draining the battery. This reduction in quality seemingly extends to the MixAmp Pro TR. Whilst a far superior setup to my trusty A40 wireless kit (less cabling, more durable hardware, etc...), the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. I appreciate the customisation tools available with the Astro Command Centre software, allowing you to fine-tune your microphone level, side-talk, and EQ... however, whilst operating in Dolby Surround mode, audio channels are clearly out of phase with one another, resulting in a residual, muddy, blunt, and tinny sound. This is perhaps most noticeable in FPS games where each bullet is followed by a residual metallic "twang". Interestingly, this effect does not occur when operating in stereo mode, with my older Astro MixAmp, or when my A40 headset is plugged directly into the controller.Similarly, the MixAmp employs an aggressive Noise Gate (a feature that blocks out background noise based on its dB level) that makes it difficult for other players to hear speech at times. Whilst, again, this can be customised in the Astro Command Centre, none of the options are "just right". The streaming option, for example, lets in everything including me simply breathing softly down the microphone, much to everyone's annoyance! Once again, these issues do not occur with my older MixAmp or when using the headset directly with the controller. As a big fan of Astro, it's disappointing to see that their products have clearly taken a negative turn when it comes to quality, particularly in sound. Hardware quality is good, as it's always been... but that's neither here nor there with what's supposed to be a leading product for audiophile gamers.

Great little bit of kit
Great little bit of kit, Have used Astros for 5 years and the mixamp is definetly worth the money. The intergration with Xbox one is really nice as the Xbox picks it up as a Headset device just from the USB (rather than having to have a cable to the controller).Note: If you are buying this for a console, White is for Xbox One, Black is for PS4. They aren't cross compatible.

Amazing!! Used with HyperX Alpha!
Amazing bit of kit! Well worth the money! I'm using it with the HyperX Alpha headset and they're 10 times better than being plugged into the controller!! Only thing I'd advise is finding different EQ present settings as the ones it comes with aren't great!
