Killzone returns with a bang.
I shan't spoil anything in this review. Just the basics.Single playerGreat pacing (I see why some may find parts of it odd but I enjoyed the fact that it's not just shoot shoot shoot), gorgeous graphics; excellent voice acting and performances from the actors. The open ended nature may be daunting but also allows player agency to some extent. The OWL is great and you'll need it a lot. The touchpad will take some getting used to, if you're used to the VITA. It's a fair length for the campaign and the game does well to engross you into the story to make you go through all you do. It's also the best looking game on next gen consoles, sporting the highest resolution of textures and details at 1080p.MultiplayerAs they say; XP is last-gen. Progression is based on skill. Individual and team. You have access to the Guerrilla armoury depending on your class to choose whatever weapon suits your playstyle. No need to grind to get the guns you want. 3 Classes. Assault Support Scout. Assault are the more aggressive with SMGs and light weapons to aid fast movement across the map among other abilities, such as shields and speed boost. Supports are versatile and have miniguns and LMGs to suppress enemies. They can revive allies and drop spawn beacons. Scout are the snipers and stealthy types who have cloaks and can teleport; just like fans have always wanted. Support also have a teleport ability but it works slightly differently.Primary game mode is Warzones; which have you complete a series of objectives in a series to form a set. But this is customisable to cycle through standard modes like Team DeathMatch, Capture and Hold, Beacon Theft, Capture and Connect; among others. Players can edit the rules in more ways than other titles on the market allow you to. So there will always be something fresh to try out if one mode is not exactly to your taste. The most important thing about it is that it feels so balanced. Running at steady frames, with a counter for every hitch. There is a huge meta-game to unravel, explore and revel in.A great game with great variety. Guaranteed enjoyment. A true showcase of your brand new PS4.

Exceptional Launch Title
Being a long term Killzone fan I was cautiously optimistic for Shadow Fall. The game looked beautiful and it definately looked fun, it looked like the developer, Guerilla Games, removed a certain spark from it. However I am proud to report Killzone:SF is an exceptional launch game for the Playstation 4. It features all the strong components of a good FPS while maintaining the series signature marks. The story involves Helghast being forced to live alongside Vektans on their home planet after the petrocide attack. It can devolve into a silly mish-mash of espionage at times, but the story is generally well presented and offers some surprising twists. Compared to previous KZ games the story is definately strong.Gameplay wise it is definately a KZ game. It definately feels lighter than previous games, but thats because your a spy of sorts, not a simple heavy soldier on the ground. Guns feel weighty and powerful to shoot with lot of cool variations on well known weaponry. Multiple objectives are presented throughout levels, which definately creates much less of a linear feeling to the game.Graphically Shadow Fall is the best looking game on any console to date. Textures and tessellation is superb making the planet of Vekta feel like a real, living world. Facial animation is spot on, showing some of the strongest Mo-Cap this side of La Noir.Multiplayer is strong featuring 3 unique classes, unlockable attachments and features. It's not quite as strong as KZ3's but it runs at a steady 60fps and features strong, community built matches.Overall I love Killzone:SF. The story can devolve into occasionaly corny spy tale, but the gameplay is fun and fluid, graphics are amazing, the best to be seen on any console and multiplayer is fun classed based mayhem.

Sony really set the standards high
Graphics and storyline wise, this is a great game. I have always been an xbox gamer and only recently made the transition to PS4 and so far, I am very pleased and impressed. I thought that a good way to make the transition would be to give one of the killzones a run through as I have never had the opportunity to play one before, with it being PlayStation exclusive. I was pleased that I did.I quickly got drawn into the plot of things and picked up the general story and plot within about 10 minutes of gaming. You have a general idea of what happened before this game, even if you have never played the previous versions and you fall in love with the story line. The graphics and physics in the game are insane. You will, without a doubt have several jaw dropping moments as you take in the immense detail in the visuals. Massive thumbs up to the developers of this game, the PS4 is so powerful and to say this was one of the first games to come out on it, they certainly set the standards high for other developers. There are some negatives to my gaming experience, however. I do feel as though some of the missions are way too confusing and you can quickly lose track of what it is you are actually supposed to be doing. The mission objectives are not very clear and there has been times where I have actually had to look up walkthroughs on YouTube not to find better ways of doing things but to actually find out what/where I am actually supposed to be going. To explain further, the maps are huge (which is good, don't get me wrong) and when you reach a certain checkpoint there will be a small beacon sort of thing appear somewhere on your screen showing you where you have to go next, which is great, but the beacon seems to disappear after about 10 seconds until you actually get close to it and do a scan of the area. There may be a way to change this, I haven't really poked around in the settings yet but it is slightly frustrating when a lot of the time you don't even know if you are heading in the right direction. Don't see this as a big negative though, some people may prefer it as it leaves the game open for you to complete the missions how you wish without essentially 'going through on rails'.Lastly, I feel that some missions are way too long. This means that you sometimes end up getting a bit bored, especially when there isn't much action involved, but I guess that is Sony's way of doing things. It's just the game style.Overall, great game, stunning graphics and a big thumbs up to the developers. Although I do feel improvements need to be made, it's not really for me to judge as a bit of a 'noob' and I know many people do enjoy the franchise as it is.
