I thought for the size, it would be useless, but it’s a brilliant little tool. My dog is a bear coat so gets very matted under his chin but this cut through the matts very easy. Definitely recommend and don’t be put off by the size of this gadget

Great for getting knots out of dog coats, I wish I had found them long before now.

I am owned by a very elderly neutered male cat. He has a beautiful coat, however, he no longer seems able to groom himself from below his ribs to above his tail and as a result he had developed some spectacular matts. I bought this to try to manage them. The fine point is probably better suited to getting under matts that have grown out somewhat or those on a larger animal, labrador or such. However, it is really good at using gently while stroking your cat to find deeply buried matts. I recommend a seam ripper for actually creating the located matts in such a fine coat as a cat's fur, but I will keep this to keep on finding them as they arise.

What I found was that, whilst the blade is sharp enough to cut through the matted fur of my dog, the long arm is not sharp so trying to push the arm through to the blade makes it so difficult, my low-tolerance pooch can't keep still. Whilst I recognise it might have been a bit dangerous to have the arm be as sharp as the blade, there should be a way that the arm is sharp enough to cut through the matty fur.

Once you get the hang of this, does the job. Good sharp blade that cuts through matts well.

Liked it so much just ordered another one. The dogs really don't mind when you use it. It gets the mats out with no pulling. They don't even notice you are using it. I keep it on the table next to the couch so when one of them is laying by me I can just grab it if I need to get a mat out while they are sleeping.
