Awesome for the money
I think I've had this pedal for about 12-months or so now and it's brilliant. I play through a Marshall HFX15 (high bass, medium mid, 3 o'clock top) and this pedal really sounds good through it. The build is as you expect from Behringer but the controls are better than normal quality (see my other review on the Behringer Warp Distortion pedal). The battery access is easy once you've done it once (under the footpedal) but it eats 9v batteries, with good reason, so get one of their chargers. The thing that made me buy this pedal in the first place was the fact that it had a "Bottom boost" control on it. Purely for the fact I like a nice thick but clear sound. This control does not disappoint. Nothing much happens until you turn it to about 3 o'clock but then the sound really starts to thicken up quickly, adding bass to the frequency. The distortion is surprisingly variable and you can get a completely different kind by turning it off and turning up the gain boost instead. With both the distortion and gain boost at maximum (and bottom boost if you're feeling dark) it's quite a cutting but deep distortion you can produce (depending on your amp and settings). However, it's best used with a compressor because the merest waft of air past the strings will be picked up at these levels. The tone control does what you expect although I think they could have gone a little higher with the frequency. It sounds great with a wah pedal (linked before) and I've even grown to like the hideous pink colour the plastic body was cast in. If you like bands such as Alter Bridge, Saliva, Sevendust, then this little pedal will suit your needs I reckon; and for the price (mine was £30) I see it as a bargain and a worthy entry into the hard rocker's pedal board.

Excellent for practising pedal effects skills
I have built an affordaboard for my Son who’s skills are rapidly developing. The setup now has 12 behringer pedals in the PB1000 case. This picture shown is built from the standard cabling and power supplies. The heavy distortion pedal like all the others is excellent value for money. With 12 pedals daisy chained we have very low noise and latency. I had read other reviews about noise and at first the high gain pedals (Overdrive / Superfuzz / Distortion) produced noticeable buzz but after much testing this actually derived from the guitars being used not the pedals / board / power supply or cabling so if you do experience noise the first thing I would check is the instrument being used (I eventually used an electro acoustic guitar and keyboard to test and any noise on pedal activation disappeared).

Good pedal for the money
Nice, hefty low-end. Works really nicely as bass distortion which is what I bought this for. Very dirty, possibly to a fault as it can be a little unpredictable, but it does a very good job for what I want it for.
