Always good
My favourite make of hairdye - easy to dilute with conditioner to lighten the colour or mix with other tones.

Brilliant and Fast!
So I am directions virgin and I decided that after reading through the reviews I thought I would give it a go. Was a little worried that there wouldn’t be enough as I have quite long thick hair, normally I use the Schwarzkopf hair dyes and I need two boxes. Anyway... I carried on and I was amazed that actually there was enough in that little pot to do my hair! I went with the cerise colour just cos since turning 40 and discovering a grey hair or two I needed something bold. I left it on for about 15 minutes maybe slightly over as I was worried my hair might go vibrant pink! I should really have done a before and after picture but totally forgot... to give you an idea my hair colour before I dyed it was a mousy brown colour darker at the top and lighter at the bottom (probably from previously colouring my hair). As you can see from the photos my hair took really well to the dye and it is darker at the top still but almost like a purple colour (pictures don’t do it justice) with the bottom part of my hair looking much brighter. I have to say I did wear gloves whilst applying this but I did manage to cover my head, ears and neck in pink dye. It did come off pretty well but still it is very messy if your doing it yourself like me. I didn’t use a brush I just rubbed it all through my hair and hoped for the best but as you can see I didn’t do a bad job. I’m definitely going to buy more of these hair dyes probably this one again as I really like it. If your hair is dark or medium brown and you want the bold pink colour you will need to bleach or lighten it first I might do that next time.. I am impressed with how quick it took most dyes require at least 25 mins. There isn’t really a smell to this pot either so you don’t get that ammonia smell. Hope you find the review helpful... I would definitely recommend!

Prepare for compliments ...... This stuff is pretty EPIC :)
Okay, so I received the pot and opened up to a stunning rich plum purple colour. It looks dark but don`t let that put you off.I first prepped my hair by using the Direction pre-wash shampoo, highly recommended and towel dried my hair.I then popped on some rubber gloves, very important, and started applying.I have very fine, mid shoulder hair and used around half the pot, popped the lid on and saved for another time.My hair is currently a washed out red colour, I never bleach my hair as it`s in pretty poor condition due to having Chemotherapy last year and losing a little bit of my hair.I left the colour on for about 20 minutes, it states around 15 minutes but I left a little longer. One tip ...... make sure you have some Vaseline to use on your skin as this stains a little.Another tip ...... make sure you have loads of bleach to clean the shower/bath/your hands!I wash off the colour and it leaves a beautiful plum colour, shiny and manageable, I use a little bit of conditioner in the end and comb through before rinsing. The colour stains A LOT!! Make sure you have some bleach to clean the shower and bath. I had to use a little bleach in my hands to wash off the colour as my hands at stained purple a little.I don`t recommend you take a normal shower and wash this off as this will stain your body!!Also avoid the rain or getting your hair wet (swimming etc.) for a couple of days later as this runs and stains your head. The colour lasts me around 14 days, that`s with washing everyday but will differ from person to person. It changes colour every time I wash it and I get complimented everyday on my hair colour.I would give this 5 stars but the stress of bleaching everything including myself afterwards knocks a star off.

Messy
It stains every thing it touches and after 3 washes it turned the ends of my hair green! That's not fading so well....

Really easy way to tone balayage
I’ve got naturally porous, curly mid-brown hair that had balayage bleach a year ago (before going for BRIGHT colours). Since then it’s been badly sun damaged and was a rather brassy bleached out look. I used the pastel pink aiming for a rose gold effect and its perfect. It doesn’t dye all of my hair, just the palest blonde strands, which combines really nicely with my natural golden sun-bleached brown. So easy to apply - I coat mid- lengths to ends, plus the lighter areas around my face, with my hair dry, then comb it through and leave tied back for a couple of hours, then rinse and condition. The pale colour means I don’t need gloves or a protective towel, and there’s no drips or mess. One pot is just the right amount for my mid-back length hair (when straight) starting at around my ears, if I needed to do all of my hair I’d need two pots. The tone lasted well for 2-3 weeks before fading, and was mostly gone after 5 weeks (I only way my hair once a week). My second application after 5 weeks looks stronger as my hair condition has improved (after leaving a warm climate). Love the minimal smell as I’m hypersensitive. I’ve been using directions for close to 25 years now, since my teens, and it’s never disappointed but this is definitely the easiest colour I’ve used. One friend couldn’t believe it wasn’t a salon dye job because it works so well. I’d really recommend it if you’re bored of your balayage and want to soften yellow tones.
