Enjoyable shave
I've used a few electric razors over the years, originally I started with a Philips s3000 and it was decent, eventually I decided to try Braun foil razor which was more than double what the Philips was, and it was quite disappointing, often pulling and was difficult to shave closeI tried some normal razors again and realised why I stopped using them before as they often pull and cut wether I use foams or gels or notSo I finally decided to go back to the brand I enjoyed in the past with an upgrade, the s9000, and I have to say I'm very impressed how effortless it shaves and how close it shaves as well, no pulling no cuts just a clean shave and very easy to clean, comes in a nice kit and the battery life is very good, it's also easy to clean, think I'll stick with Philips from now on

Great Shaver
This is basically a superseded model now, but quite a bit cheaper than the new model and is still a very good chordless shaver.I bought it to replace an identical shaver I had been using for about 4 years, which was just starting to suffer from reduced battery life between charges....although was still operating very effectively otherwise and has been kept as a spare.Well worth considering while stocks last, with a saving of at least £100 or more over the new model, which I doubt does the job any better.Don’t go for the version with the cleaning station included though. I had one of those previously and they are a bit of a waste of time and not worth the extra money or the space they take up. You can clean the heads perfectly well under the tap and Philips do a cleaning/lubricating spray that you can use once every couple of months if needed....but I didn’t find I needed it on my old shaver.

Value for money?
My previous shaver, a Philips basic model was 7 years old and having never had a replacement head was past its best. Having looked at the price of a replacement head and that of a new basic model a complete unit seemed better value. Before ordering I thought I would have a look at a couple of reviews, the conclusion was that the fully floating head models gave by far the better shave and recommended the 9000 series. The shaver is very quiet, lightweight and easily cleaned and gives a good shave, and a charge will last six days ( I shave twice a day). On the down side it is relatively slow, my old base model would run plugged into a shaving point and was noticeably faster than running on battery only, this model will not run plugged in. Comparing it to my old unit yes it gives a better shave but the comparison is a 7 year old base model with worn head compared to a new upper range model. In conclusion I believe that with a new head on my old shaver it would have been hard to differentiate the two and whilst I can not fault the shaver for what the makers claim and what it does I don't see how they can justify 3 times the price of a base model. If I had to buy again I would happily save the £100 and have a new base model.

Very Impressed - Nice Piece of Kit
Quiet in use, charge lasts 2 weeks or more.I have used it both wet and dry, both do an excellent job but the wet is best.It is the closest shave (wet) I've ever had from an electric shaver, compared with a razor blade wet shave I would give it 9/10.Which is quite impressive especially because there is no cuts, nicks and soreness that can happen with razor blades. My only criticism would be the cost of replacement shaving heads when due, every 2 years. Bit pricey.Overall I am delighted with this shaver and definitely recommend it.

Improvement over series 5
I was using a series 5000 which I never really felt gave a close shave. Decided to plump for this and I really feel it is a considerable upgrade in closeness of shave. I now shave every other day which I think is great to give the old boat race a rest. Upgrade in terms of price over the 5000 of course but that’s life I suppose. The only thing I preferred on the 5000 was the hinged lid to access the heads instead of having to separate the 2 parts by pulling them apart.

Detachable head falls off
It's a good shaver and I'm on my second one. However each has lasted only 3-4 years before the detachable head becomes loose and starts to fall off while using it. For the price paid, this is bad and I shall try to find a decent one without a detachable head.

Improvement on previous shavers
I would like to inform people with Philips shavers that the 9000 series is a huge improvement on earlier models.I had the 6000 series before, still shaving after 18 months.I hoped buying the 9211/12 model would be better, it is in fact it’s much better !I had an area one side of my chin which was always difficult to shave, but the 9000 shaves it easily, I can’t believethe bad reviews only to say it may be they are shaving dry, which is a pity as it shaves a lot better with Gillette shave gel

Nigh on perfect for my skin and beard
I'm in my fifties and have tough but not thick beard growth.I changed to this razor after 20 years with a previous Philips rotary model. The cutting ability of the 9000 series head is a revelation but there are a couple of ergonomic and quality issues that prevent it from being perfect:- Razor body shape is slightly awkward to hold- Head attachment does not inspire confidence- Trimmer is awkward to fit and nigh on useless- No UK plug supplied so requires an adapterAnyone who says that it is possible to achieve the same finish as a wet shave, even if shaving creme is used, is lying. I use this as the first step in my shaving routine, before I shower, and it means that the wet shave that I use to finish is nigh on effortless.I believe that the triangular head shape used by Philips is superior to the squarish shape used by Braun as it allows better access to awkwards areas, such as under the nose.Pros - amazing at clearing stubble, does not irritate my skin, quick to charge, easy to cleanCons - trimmer feels cheap and is awkward to fit and use, no stand supplied as standard, no uk mains plug, feels cheap given the list price, the head fitment feels fragile, easy to drop parts when cleaning head
