Dylon Dark Green Hand Dye
I bought this to dye a lovely bargain dress. The dress was a lovely shape and style but a rather insipid grey colour which accentuated all my fat bits! I used this dark green dye. It was easy to use. I did agitate the dress very well and followed the instructions, however I think the bowl was not really big enough. The dress came out with a slight tie-dye look which is actually quite fabulous and it now looks quite slimming. It is a long and quite heavy cotton dress. I don't think you'd have this problem if you used a bigger bowl and your item was smaller and lighter. I have used these dyes before and they are great. Don't waste it though, after you have dyed one thing dye something else ... it might turn out a bit lighter but it is worth a try. Have fun. (Don't use it for dyeing your hands by the way - use rubber gloves!)

Good result on cotton t-shirts, easy to do but takes time
Used this Forest Green dye on a couple of white cotton t-shirts for a costume. The green colour has come out quite dull, which is fine, as I didn’t want a bright green, but it’s not as green as the colour on the packet. You need 250g salt, which is a lot of salt. Like any hand dye, the process is quite time-consuming - you need to wash the items first, then spend quite a lot of time stirring while the items are in the dye, then rinsing, then washing again.I’m quite pleased with the result. The colour is nice and solid, no streaks or patchiness. As I expected, the stitching hasn’t taken the dye as well (it must be synthetic thread) so you can see some lighter stitching around the hems, but it doesn’t look bad. One t-shirt was tie-dyed and this has worked really well.My advice to anyone who hasn’t used this before would be:It’s straightforward but allow plenty of timeMake sure you’ve got enough salt before startingUse gloves and an apron in case of splashesOnly use on cotton/natural fibres, and stitching may not take the dyeReally good fun project for children (with help) to tie-dye a cheap white t-shirtWash separately afterwards and then use Colour Catcher in mixed washes

Laborious process
The washing machine alternative is far more efficient and, as one might expect far less time consuming and labour intensive. However, the process works satisfactorily.

Excellent dye
My top was the same mixed light brown as my bedding.( I wish I had taken a before photo, but never occurred to me) I only soaked it for about 20min and decided it was green enough. My top looks like new! Love the new colour! Highly recommend Dylon brand. I have used this product for many years and it has never disappointed. Be aware of the fact that it does not always dye the thread.

Unfortunaly it did not work
I used this to dye my chair covers. I followed all the instructions carefully and even left them to soak a longer. It appeared to have dyed some but when following the next instruction the dye just ran out.Not sure if it was the chair cover material or the dye but it didn't even dye the white parts on them. The only thing it dyed was the label. It is a shame because the dark green appeared to be a lovely colour before it ran out of the material.

New designer top for £6
I was a bit worried using this, as my top was mainly cotton but contained nylon and other synthetics, which I'm told is notoriously difficult to dye.The alternative was to leave a lovely stylish top a 'hideous' lime green colour and relegate it to the back of the drawer never to be worn again....or..... take the plunge and dye it a darker shade of green. The lime had to go.....and i'm absolutely thrilled with the results!Would highly recommend and I am actively looking for other clothes to re-dye.
