Makes a huge difference!
I have been working on a sleeve and when it came time to do my hand I was concerned about the pain and looked into options beyond just the bactine (that can't be used until after the skin is broken). I decided to try this out and it's been a big help! For my hand, it basically ended up meaning I didn't feel anything when my artist was doing the initial linework. I felt a bit when he did the black and white and shading, but it really took the edge off. I did feel it majorly when he got to the color since it was generally a painful spot, but I was able to talk through it (which I normally could not do by that point), and combined with the bactine spray I did really well.My artist (who has been tattooing me for a decade and knows how my skin reacts and also knows how much of a baby I can be about the pain) was really impressed with the fact that my skin did not swell at all. The lack of swelling was key, because I think we probably would have had to stop and let it heal before we went back in for the color otherwise. I have used it since on other parts of my sleeve (including my fingers!!) and it's made a huge difference. It definitely doesn't make it a pain free experience, but it makes getting through the first layer virtually pain free and really takes the edge off the rest--plus even if it did nothing for the pain (which it does), the lack of swelling makes a major difference in the whole process, including healing. I will definitely purchase this again.Other reviewers have noted that you really need to lay it on thick, which I concur. When I've used it, I have put it on really thick, covered that part of my body in saran wrap (or when I did my had I used a glove), and then left it on while I grabbed brunch (or whatever mealtime it is, since I fully pass out if I don't eat before a big tattoo), since you really need to leave it on an hour or two to get the full effect. It's become a bit of a pre-tattoo ritual. I might feel like a wimp for using it if I was really keeping score, but the reduction in swelling really does help with healing and also makes it possible to keep tattooing longer before my skin is too raw and swollen to take more, so it's actually impacted the quality of my tattoos too!

It Works
The media could not be loaded. Works great, I was sure if it was going to do a lot for me but pretty amazing stuff for a half sleeve.

IT WORKS
I was very skeptical about using this product. I am getting a full leg sleeve and was worried about my knee and the pain in general after sitting for 3-4 hours. I applied the cream around 2:30pm and wrapped it up immediately after. I wiped it off when I got to my appointment at 4 pm. The numbing cream lasted for my 3 hour appt and I could only feel the vibrations/buzzing of the tattoo gun. This product truly works and I look forward to using it for all my future sessions!

Real review ‼️
The media could not be loaded. I should start by saying- I am no beginner at getting tattood, I have gotten plenty of tattoos with and without numbing cream, & this actually did work. I would recommend trying a “test spot” prior to slapping this all over your skin. The picture I uploaded is of my test spot. While it was numb, the redness is still present even after wiping it off 12 hours earlier. I let the cream, sit for 1 hour just like the directions say, and it does work and numbs the skin. But the redness still stayed (this could totally just be subjective) I have tried many numbing creams, and some do not leave my skin red like this.I Saran wrapped over the cream (where I will be getting tattood later today) & will give an update as to how it worked after my session is over.UPDATE- while the numbing cream did numb my skin, it did NOT last for 6 hours. Last for maybe 1.5.. I left it on for 3 hours prior to my session & followed the directions. My entire calf (where I put the cream) is so red itchy and inflamed. I’ve used several other tattoo creams and none have made my skin react like this. This could be 100% subjective and just my reaction to it. Please do a test spot as early as you can so you have time to order something different. Video is of my calf where I put the cream. It’s been 3 days and it’s still like this. I have been using hydrocortisone cream and calamine lotion to help.

Works great for about an hour
So I have already tried about three different brands and so far for the price. This one works great. I left it on thick for about 2 1/2 hours wrapped in saran wrap, and luckily my tattoo only took about an hour, but once my tattoo artist wiped it clear and started. I felt absolutely nothing for at least 40 minutes. And then after the 40 minutes I could feel it slightly but it didn’t hurt like if I had use nothing. I’m definitely gonna use this again for all of my tattoos and if I have to do different sessions, I will lol but it works just not for six hours.

Works okay
Used for part of a sleeve. I tried this one and another one (see other reviews). This one I believe has menthol in it... I did do a patch test and it seemed okay, but when I did the full area for 2.5 hours, I could actually feel stinging through the numbing, and my arm was noticeably pink where I put the cream. I almost thought I'd need to back out of the tattoo, but it turned out okay.Okay now down to the numbing. This one did not last like the other one did. I got one full hour of pain free. The next 3 hours, not so much. As you can see this tattoo has A LOT of shading. I think this would work great on something with less shading and areas that are gone over multiple times, but for this tattoo, it really only works on the first pass. Anymore after that, you pretty much feel 80-100% of the pain. I'll use the rest of this since I bought it, but it didn't hold up over time like the last cream I used. Also, use with the caution. I'm not super sensitive, but the menthol IMO is not needed and didn't add to a painless experience.
