Salomon Mens X Ultra 4 Mid Gore-tex Hiking Boots

Good shoes
Used them for winter hiking, and they did well. I did experience cold toes from time to time, but I haven’t yet found a shoe that has kept my feet warm for an entire hike. They kept my feet dry.I found the traction good enough to allow for hiking in bare boots until inclines increase too much. They paired well with both crampons and snowshoes. I’m very happy with them.

Sturdy, worth the price, great hiking boots
Great hiking boots! Would recommend for seasoned hikers and people just starting out.The size is spot on, and the product is sturdy.I've been using them for awhile now and they do not disappoint.

If you buy from Amazon / some third parties, you are not eligible for the full Salomon warrantee.
I have owned 3 maybe 4 pairs of these. The first lasted nearly a year before it got to the point where traction was being limited and support was limited. The upper was in very good shape. The second lasted a bit over 6-8 months. The soles just lost their bounce / structure support. I think this was an ok duration because I really wore these a lot. My last pair is about 7 months old. Tread still in nice shape, but the uppers came apart at one of the seams. They are still somewhat functional, but look bad and leak badly. Although Salomon will review replacement claims up to 5 years, I can not get a claim processed because Amazon and the third party seller I bought them from have a MUCH shorter return period. Days not months or year. 3 starts because the product is good. Make sure you buy direct from Salomon or from a third party seller that honors the FULL Salomon warrantee.

so far so good
It's pretty new to me/ I only have about 80 miles on this boot so far. It's light enough. It's gore tex lined so it's both water proof and a little less cool/breathable than I like. I do like the arch support The ankle support is good for me.The toe box is just big enough.I don't like the insole that came with it, but my instep is high enough that a a thicker cushion wont fit with my foot ..My only real complaint is the laces are slippery enough that it is difficult to tieI will amend this after 250 miles or so..

Durable
I have had these boots for about a year. They are in okay shape after a year which is for me decent. I use them for work and walk about 20,000 steps a day. Keens only last me 6months which are currently the same price as these. They are still water tight, as the keens would not be. The tread is only worn down in the front portion of the boot and a little bit at the heel. I am on roofs a lot and have good grip. I have been very impressed with support and ankle support to top it off they look nice! If you use these for hiking boots only they would last several years. These may last me another few months before they get uncomfortable.

Perfect fit right out of the box
For those wondering about the color like I was, these boots are black and gray. I am not sure why "Pearl Blue" is named in the color, there is no blue on this boot at all. These are my first pair of Salomon's and they are super comfortable straight out of the box. I can't get over how lightweight they are too. The material does feel a little cheap, but only time will tell how well they hold up. The length of my foot is 11 actual inches, and a 10.5 fit me perfectly.
