"Black Ties & White Lies" is a 5-star Prize
“Black Ties & White Lies” is book one in the “Black Tie Billionaires” series of standalones written by Kat Singleton. It is a fake dating billionaire romance between Graphic Designer, Margo, and Billionaire (and brother of her ex) Beckham. This book contains banter, spice, white lies, twists, a jealous ex, and conspiring paparazzi. 10/10 recommend. I made it 15% into this book on Kindle Unlimited before I went ahead and bought it.Tropes include: fake dating, billionaire girl, “mine”, one bed, and he falls first. The spice level, to me, was 🌶🌶🌶. There is an entire scene with FIVE chapters of spice in a row. This book is written in a dual POV, which works for this book. I normally enjoy dual POV anyway, but for this book it REALLY shines. We can see each character's thoughts, motivations, and true character. More importantly, however, we can see when they lie. We can see why and what lengths they go to protect them until they’re ready for them to be known. It adds to the complexity of the story between the two characters. It is more than a simple transaction. The characters are dynamic and well-written. Margo is strong-willed, ambitious, and brave. Her tenacity shines through in many scenes, making her feel incredibly genuine. She is as real as we are. I was geeking over Beckham Sinclair. He is so much more than a “billionaire playboy,” and I love him. He is not a perfect character. He is flawed. He is protective, and one may say borderline obsessed. Yet, I love him. When Margo (and the reader) learn the truth of everything, Beckham’s heartbreak is palpable, as are Margo’s feelings of betrayal. The whole scene was tragic. There are so many facets to “Black Ties & White Lies” that make it an amazing read. When I read this book, I could not stop laughing. Not only did I laugh, but I blushed, I squeaked, and I kicked my feet around. I also focused, my breath shortened, and my heart raced. I felt adrenaline in scenes where I started to feel anxious. It is an amazing read that I would give 10 stars if I could.

The book is great but the printing is faulty
The story itself- great book, easy read, lots of spice and fun back & forth. The book printing - either I got a bad copy or whoever is printing these copies are messing up because quite a few pages are printed differently than the others where they look double printed and when you read it it messes with your eyes a bit like they’re fuzzy. You can still read it so it’s not a huge deal but it’s a tad annoying.

sugar and spice
This book is amazing!!! You fall in love with the characters - the banter will have you laughing out loud. The sexual tension is palpable. And the heartbreak will make you cry. One of the best love stories I have read all year.

What could have been
This is the fourth book by this author I have read now and I’m noticing a bit of a trend.I read the Small Town romance series set in Sutton first. And I liked those books better. I read this one because I had enjoyed the authors work so much. While this book kept me interested and I liked a lot of the storyline I found the FMC to be really frustrating. and I hate when I find myself not liking the leading lady! She was super immature for most of the book and it was hard to read. Their fighting was incredibly childish even though I feel like the author wanted it to come across as more like banter and tension building than it did. But instead it just felt like she was a petulant teenager.I did love the romantic gestures and declarations. I feel like it’s something this author writes really really well! I love it!!Ps. Fettuccine Alfredo is NOT an Italian dish. This is the smallest of details but it annoyed me so much that she said her grandma’s recipe was better because it was from Italy and she was Italian. Completely inconsequential, but as someone who lived in Italy for a long time I couldn’t let it go lol

unexpectedly good
Got the book because of a blurb I saw in a book group. Margo and Beck have an amazing story. When you think it's your typical fake fiancée store, you will end up pleasantly surprised.Love that the story continues to build, it didn't feel rushed or anything. From the "first-met", to the little pretty woman moment and more; I hoped more and more for these MCs to get their HEA, and a HEA they did.

“I’d kneel and plead every damn day for you”
Talk about “Healthy” Obsession! This man knew what he wanted and did everything in his power and more to get it, or might I say “Get Her” Margo, his Violet 💜.This book had me since the very first chapter, i was stuck to my chain until i was done.I love a book that goes straight to the Point and this is what you will find here. Such and intense and beautiful love story!Beck is the ideal “boss”, ex-boyfriend’s brother, that has the biggest heart. And Margo the best assistant to all his desires, although she makes him wait 🤤I am obsessed with Beck and Margo’s relationship, the anticipation, the banter, the “BEGGING” (you’ll know what i mean) 🤤 the romance, the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️All in perfect amounts.I am so glad I gave in to all the recommendations and read this amazing book! My first Kat Singleton and Now I can’t wait to read the others.😜
