I am w/o refrigeration and bought this to store at room temperature. I mixed up some with a frother and just ate it out of the bowl (I love sour cream.) It's the right consistency once mixed and tasted like it was fresh. I just ate it out of the mixing bowl. If I can't get fresh, this is a great replacement.

I enjoy bake potatoes but had an issue with the sour cream spoiling. Now I make it as needed making this product more money friendly. I use my bullet blender and refrigerate so it is easy to make and store. I enjoy the product as it is not offensive in any way.

I have mixed this up 2 times. The first time I ate it right away on a baked potato, it was very thin so I added more powder. It was a bit chalky in texture. Then I realized I hadn't read all the directions. It says to refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours. Whoops.Second time I mixed it like the first time with the extra powder. Refrigerated it overnight in a Rubbermaid with a tight lid. Again used it on a baked potato, but this time it was thick like cream cheese. Tasted great and no chalk texture. Next time I will use the proper ratio 2 powder to 1 water and refrigerate it. It thickens a lot while sitting. It pays to follow directions.I live in an rv and have a dorm size refrigerator, not much room for a regular tub of sour cream. Also I tend to use about half of the regular tub before it starts spoiling. So even though this costs more per ounce, I can mix it in small amounts I can use before it spoils, thereby, actually saving money. If you throw half away your price per used once is actually 2 times the cost than if you used it all. Example $4 for 8 oz tub using only half is really $4 for 4 ounces.

I put a little in a tiny ziplock and make sour cream for my rehydrated black bean burritos while backpacking. What a luxury to feel like I am eating something fresh and everyone is jealous. I find I need to add less water than recommended, but I am eyeballing it so it may be my error. What a treat to find this - a totally light weight luxury item.

I received my order today, Jan 29th and the bag states, best if used by May 16, 2023. This product is INELIGIBLE for return which means I have 3 1/2 months to use this product all by myself. Hmmmm. . . . before I purchased, I researched the web for the shelf life of powdered sour cream which stated up to 10 years, otherwise I would NOT have purchased this item.
