These work great with any 4-sided ferrule crimper. I was able to use them with 16ga wire as well and the ferrule was still very tight. I tugged very hard and it showed no signs of coming loose. With 14ga it is even tighter (as expected).The plastic shield was firmly attached to the ferrule, so no concerns there in regards to it possibly coming loose.Not much else to say. They work.

I don't know if these have a single specific application? Appears adequate for low voltage and moderate voltage applications. Perfect fit for basic 12/2 AWG wire. I stripped the end off of some old 12/2 solid aluminum wire I removed from my attic space to demonstrate. 14 AWG is obviously a bit thinner. Very stiff tin? plated copper (not aluminum) but relatively thin walls so you can use these as butt connectors for 12/2-14/2 AWG or similar lower voltage stranded wires if you have a decent crimping tool for this range of wire AWG.
