Wow
What abook, I've had this in my tbr for awhile, and I'd just finished the Ravenhood series, then Hawke, but I wanted something dark, like real dark, an oooweee did I get it, I think it's about to get a whole lot darker, what an absolute amazing, thrilling, read, I love the soul, soulless energy between characters, and that scene in the studio, is he going to or not, I was on tender hooks whew.... crazy, loved it, im diving right into book two, because my appetite is not nearly fulfilled, thank you Sophie for sucking me into to a crazy artistic world...

Now that is more like it!
That is dark romance! I will start by saying although I like some of Sophie Lark’s books, this felt on another level. I’ve read some of the brutal birthright and they were more fun in my opinion, but lacked the emotional complexity. But this, was truly dark and I loved it!This had all the best tropes and themes:- Serial killer MMC- Stalking- Kidnapping- Plenty of emotional trauma- A rival serial killer- All the possessive vibes- Touch her and die- I don’t know whether to kill her or f*** herWhat a rollercoaster. Plus I loved the backdrop of the world of artists, and the mentor/mentee dynamic!Did I stay up until 3am reading? Yes! Am I going to do the same with the next book? Hell yes!Triggers to be aware of: Childhood abuse; Non con body modification; kidnapping and assault; and plenty of murder, obvs.

It wasn’t the best. wasn’t the worst either
Now I love serial killer romance tropes. I actually live for them. Zade in Haunting Adeline. Lana in the Mindfcuk series. Black sheep (though I’ve not read that yet.) so I had to get on this one knowing Cole was also very handy with unaliving people. However, I feel like something was missing. It was short and sweet and I enjoyed that. But I wasn’t as engaged with these characters and the story as I have been with other authors and similar plot lines. However, I didn’t necessarily hate it and I think I will probably enjoy the sequel more now that Mara knows about Cole and they seem to be getting together. And I’m very intrigued on how they will deal with Shaw. One issue I have is why is Cole described as having black hair but the dude on the cover has dirty blonde??? Slight overlook perhaps. Also, Mara needs to get some respect. You’ve fallen and screwed a guy that literally stepped over you and walked away while you were bleeding to death in the street. But hey girl, you go get your red flag and enjoy him.

This was so amazing
Oh my days was this book addictive! I absolutely loved this book - I loved the characters and the plot and I cannot wait to read the second part of this duet. Cole and Mara are such a power couple. Although he is a killer and a stalker he is so gentle and considerate with her (most of the time). Although it didn't seem like there was a lot going on, it was super engaging and I couldn't put it down. I stayed up so late to finish this book and I didn't even realise it. The time just flew by and I didn't even feel like it was moving.

A quick read
I enjoyed this book to a certain extent . It was written brilliantly and the story line was great I think I just wanted a bit more on the characters. I have the second one to read at the ready. I also finished this in 4 hours as I just was so desperate to know what happened

couldn’t put this book down! amazing
woah, this book is DARK! please check trigger warnings before reading. i couldn’t work out if i thought cole was hot or creepy.. i’m still undecided - he is trouble though, and rich (he gives me vaughn spencer vibes from angry god by lj shen!). i absolutely adore mara, god she’s just so strong willed, i could not survive what she went through!! they both have issues, like.. deep rooted issues, they’re perfect for each other, as in they balance each other. the tension between them😮💨 he’s controlling, manipulative, intense & she’s defiant, the back and forth with these two is great you just know the spice is gonna be SO SPICY🔥🌶 cole is so obsessed with thinking and making mara say that she’s his, he doesn’t even realise that he is just as much hers too🙊 if anything, he was hers way before she was his🥲 OMG I JUST LOVE THEM! cole is so cold and inhumane with everyone else, but with mara he’s totally different, he’s honest and seems like he can finally relax and actually be himself, who he wants to be. cole takes the meaning of “i’d kill for you” quite literally😮💨🥲 it gives me artistic, murderous, bonnie and clyde kinda vibes! it ends on a cliffhanger but that’s expected as it’s a duet! so excited to start there is no devil!!! jumping straight into the next book book🤩

Just became one of my top 10 all time faves!
Every single minute of my evening has been spent binge reading There Are No Saints by Sophie Lark and I regret not one second of it.The chokehold this book has over me.. Lord.. it's me again 🙏I became completely captivated by the stark contrast in character tones with each POV switch.Cole is so cold, calculated, and psychopathic it's jarring meanwhile Mara is a tornado of emotions just trying to survive from one day to the next. This book is heavy on the trigger warnings, and definitely is not one to dive into blindly if you are someone with triggers, but I found it to be genuinely stunning. It's written so well. The trauma healing, the character growth, the plot structure, all of it gives the triggers woven in true purpose.I ran to the kindle store to grab There Is No Devil, book 2 in the Sinners Duet, because there's no frickin way I can wait until January for Amazon to deliver the paperback copy I ordered 🤣This is 100% in my top 10 reads for 2021.I've read 188 books this year, the majority of which have been incredible, but this one will live rent free in my head.

The PANIC
The PANIC I felt when this book ended unresolved and I realized, with horror, that it was a duet. I prayed to the Book Gods that it was already released because ya girl does not possess the patience required for stints between publishing, least of all for a plot like this. This story has reached into my chest and grabbed ahold of my heart with both hands. It's engaging and twisted. I flew through it at a pace that was fast, even by my own standards. If I wasn't actively reading it, I was thinking about it. I was doing mental gymnastics to figure out how I could get back to it. Now that I'm through it, I can barely stand to spend more time reviewing it because it's delaying my start of the next book, but Mother Sophie deserves every rating and review for her wonderful work that she gifted us.

KUDOS TO THE AUTOR FOR SUCH A WELL WRITTEN PROVOCATIVE STORY
This book got me out of a massive book slump. It's one of my first 5 stars reads of the year. It kept me hooked from the very beginnig even though I'm not usually a fan of slow burn, but it was perfect here. So happy I found this duet, now on to the next one...

Dark Romance Perfection
Characters: 5/5Setting: 4.5/5Writing: 5/5Plot: 5/5Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5Overall: 5/5“I do not love men: I love what devours them.”I am obsessed with this book. I’ve been wanting to read one of Sophie Lark’s books forever (she’s literally the reason I got KU, all the way back in September) and I’m so glad I finally have. I can’t say for sure if starting with the Sinners Duet was the way to go because, of course, I haven’t read anything else. I can say for sure that this is one of the best dark romance books I’ve ever read.Let’s start off with the plot. I don’t want to spoil too much (though I will provide TWs at the end) but just know that this book is chaotic af and I wouldn’t have it any other way.Our protagonist, Mara, is amazing. I would die for her. She goes through it in this book and has for her whole life, as most DR heroines do, but she’s able to get back up on her feet with Cole’s support. She has some truly iconic moments. I mean, she keeps a serial killer for company. Clearly, she’s a badass.Said serial killer, Cole, is a character I was truly skeptical about. I went into this book wondering how Lark was going to make that work as a love interest, but she absolutely did.I’m halfway through There Is No Devil right now and I can confirm that book 2 is just as dark, steamy, and impeccable.Trigger warnings from a review on StoryGraph. These are not listed anywhere in the book or on the authors website. BIG red flag.Graphic: Blood, Classism, Kidnapping, Cursing, Gaslighting, Toxic relationship, Gore, Sexual assault, Torture, Death, Emotional abuse, Schizophrenia/Psychosis, Injury/injury detail, Murder, Sexual content, Stalking, Violence, Body horror, and BullyingModerate: Self harm, Abandonment, Misogyny, Child abuse, and ConfinementMinor: Death of parent and Alcohol
