After a Lengthy Search, Shiloh Farms are the Best Quality Oat Groats
I eat oat pressure cooked oat groats for breakfast daily. My go-to favorite oat groats were from Bob’s Red Mill. When Bob’s Red Mill stopped offering oat groats during the pandemic in 2020 (sadly, they are not planning to bring them back — I had called to ask when they would be back in stock and found this out), I began to order other brands of oat groats. None of them stacked up to the quality and taste of Bob’s Red Mill. During my search, I initially resisted buying Shiloh Farms Organic Oat Groats because of their expense in relationship to the size offered (they only come in 12 oz. pouches). I finally caved in and bought Shiloh Farms and was very impressed with their quality, taste, and especially how clean and whole the grains were. I don’t need to pick through them or pre-rinse them. Many other vendors’ oat groats have a lot of broken groats, stray husks, dust, and even other stray grains mixed in. They are also the best tasting oat groats I’ve found available on the market. Their flavor is a little less oaties than Bob’s Red Mill. Shiloh Farms are now my go-to brand. I won’t buy any other and whole-heartedly recommend them. For those interested, I cook them in a stove-top pressure cooker. One pouch. 4 1/2 cups water. 20 minutes. Natural Pressure Release. They come out nicely al dente, like a perfectly cooked pasta. I’m not a fan of very soft or mushy oats. They don’t absorb quite all the water, but those who batch cook oats know that when refrigerated for the following days, they firm up and absorb the rest of the water. These instructions would work in an InstantPot as well.

Stick to the ribs true oatmeal
This is oatmeal that is uncut. It is very filling and has a chewy texture. I make a pot of these groats and refrigerate them to last me about a week. The flavor is of a hearty oatmeal. I put some cooked groats in a bowl and add a little milk, chopped pecans and chopped fruit (bananas, berries, peaches, apples, etc.) Groats are extremely beneficial to your body because they are very high in fiber and contain antioxidants. I first learned about groats because of Panera- it's the oatmeal they serve. Groats take about 30 minutes to cook. I love this stuff, and am about to order my third bag.

The flavour is a bomb!
Even though it takes a while to cook I just absolutelly love the texture and how soft and chewy these are. The flavour is shockingly better than the regular whole oats that I buy. It has a mild nutty flavour I would say. I literallly do not need to put anything in them, I just cook them with milk and that is it. Usually regular oats require me to out peanutbutter, cinamon and maple syrup for flavour, but these groats are really amazing tasting. These groats also hold me longer and do not mess with my blood sugar like quick oats do. Will buy again.
