13 FISHING - AL13 - Spinning Reels (Saltwater)

I purchased this reel mainly for crab snaring, so I wanted something that was solidly built and had a good drag. This reel exceeded my expectations with the smooth retrieve and heavy drag. I had no issues reeling in multiple crabs with the drag pretty close to locked down, and there was absolutely no flex in the handle or reel foot.

Had mine for about 6 months and still works like it did out of the box. Very smooth reel and with closed gears isn’t affected by the salt water as much as other reels I’ve had.

Don't overthink it. Just get you one. This is one of the best reels own and I have quite a few. Smooth as silk but tough as nails. I fish mostly salt water and it's geeks up well with rinsing after fishing.

I like 13 products but this reel is very heavy compared to same size reels.

Bought this to do some bottom fishing in the Gulf and it’s held up as advertised. Smooth retrieve and tons of drag for the price. Overall solid reel.

Have used this 6000 size for offshore fishing for dolphin and tuna, on the reef for snapper and grouper, and inshore for snook and tarpon. This reel is a one stop shop. Smooth and strong drag along with large line capacity really makes this reel special. Will be buying more of all sizes.

I like this reel a lot. I have not used it in saltwater yet, but tried it out during some early spring pond fishing. It is very smooth. It feels solid, and you can tell it is well made. The bail flips easily and smoothly. I have never understood why some spinning reels cast better than others - line is just unspooling - but this is one of those that casts smoothly and far. There is an extra large knob on the handle that makes it easy to hold and reel. It feels solid and strong while still being smooth and light.I have the 2.0 size. It is a nice size size unless you are fishing for huge fish. This reel is a pleasure to use.The anti reverse is instantaneous, which is good, but leads to the one thing that I do not like about this reel: you cannot turn off the anti reverse. I really like to be able to turn that on and off, and don't understand why you would not want to have that ability. I've never had a spinning reel without a switch for the anti reverse. If you need to let out a little line on this reel, your only choice is to flip open the bail or turn the drag down and pull some out. Maybe the switch becomes a weak point in a heavy duty reel like this, but I have never had a problem with them. Or maybe it provides a spot where salt water could potentially infiltrate and corrode the reel. In any case, I wish this reel had one.This is a very nice, professional reel. It is enjoyable to use, and would be my go-to for all situations if it had a switch for the anti reverse. I will still use it for most situations, including salt and fresh water.
