VIZ-PRO Red Vinyl Welding Curtain/Welding Screen With Frame, 6' x 6'

I'll start by saying these were a pain to assemble, especially if you ignore the instructions. Even with the instructions they are a bit of a handful to put together.Once assembled however, they have proven to be rock solid. Due to projects overtaking my shop I stored them outside for several months and they held up remarkably well. I bought them entirely for the low price and quick delivery hoping they would last for a few months. They have far exceeded my expectations.

Update: I had ordered three of these and the first one I opened was an adventure of sorts. It came with no instructions or even a photo. I guessed at how to put it together and ended up with some spring steel pieces that I had no idea where to install. So today, I put together the second panel kit and with the inclusion of a simple assembly page, I now knew what to do with it. I think I've cured the racking issue with the installation of the extra parts. I then partially disassembled the first one and installed the parts I had left over from my first attempt. It only took a few minutes. I have decided to upgrade my original rating of four stars to five.Positives: The plastic screen is both dark and dense. I don't foresee this tearing at any point, and I think it's going to do fine at protecting my garage when I try to weld (I'm new to it and can't claim I have any skill yet). Putting it together was easy enough for one person working alone.Negatives: The feet are very likely to turn parallel to the frame if you try to adjust the screen's position in your room unless you tighten them up. I am not afraid to crank down but I was concerned about stripping threads, so some experimentation may be necessary to find the sweet spot. This really isn't something you'll want to move around very much, though you can.

I have a 6' square space on my wall I will hang them there when not using them. They are compact. Read a review that they were made flimsy. Need to be careful with them but will work for what they were designed for to shield grinding and welding work. If you're careless with them, yes they won't last. They are nice and like them.

The frames and ring system are complete junk, the rings will bend up as soon as you move it. The legs are a joke they only have one bolt and spin around and the bolt backs out. You think selling to welders that work with good steal all day they would build a product to keep up? But no. The only reason I gave two stars is because the curtains themselves are good.

Super easy to assemble. Might have taken 10 mins. Seems to be built as well as others I have seen that are more money. Will be buying more.

Good quality. I vaguely wish the red curtain wasn't so dark. It's almost opaque. Other than that I'm happy with the quality and price.

There are some small quality and design issues.It mostly went together as the instructions directed. There were parts, plastic blocks with a flat side, a concave side to receive tubing, and a hole to pass a screw through, that help the round tube interface to the flat foot. After following and double checking the instructions, a single panel included twice as many of these parts as required. Another quality issue was the way the tubes fit together. The paint, in one case, was so thick that I should have chipped it off before trying to connect the tubes. once I got it far enough in, there was no getting it out again. The last issue was with the snap connection for the tube. They include Garrett button spring clips, the buttons that pop through holes drilled in the sides of tubes that connect concentrically like an old vacuum cleaner tube. One of these clips collapsed when I tried to compress it to fit into the tube. Fortunately, there are two places where gravity does all the work for you and they don't need one of these.Design issues:There is the weakness of the connection to the feet. For each foot, there is a single screw that goes straight down, through the frame tube, into the foot. The weak point is the tube and, if you have this assembled and you push on the curtain, you will bend the tube. If you tighten the screw too much, it will crush the tube. (Thinking about this as I write it, I may be able to use the extra parts to prevent crushing. It wasn't part of the instruction illustrations, however.) It was useful to be able to deform it and straighten the apparatus after assembly but this is a likely failure point so you have to be careful.I'm considering placing a gusset between an outer part of the foot and a vertical part of the frame. This would prevent the frame from being bent over and would also prevent the foot from rotating. The downside would be that you wouldn't be able to stand these into a compact area while not using them. They would be spaced out by the distance of the gusset.
