U bolts are too short for 3/4 ton leaf springs and the lower plate is made too small for the nuts to thread all the way on without bumping into the bends

77 Chevy C10 - Backing plates poorly designed
What should have been a simple install ended up being a nightmare. Both of the backing/brace plates have such extreme bends in them that the nuts won’t fit and are impossible to tighten. The flares on the nuts are easily 1/4”+ wide. I had to go buy new nuts and lock washers.
