Copper Lightning Rod Kit with Down Conductor Clamp UL Listed for Roof, Protect Electrical Equipment, Great for House Tower Tank Roof Safety (1.7FT)

Nice Copper lightning Rod. Not sure if its solid copper or copper plated brass but it looks very solid and durable.

It’s not all copper, just needed to put that in their reason why 4 star. But looks very well constructed and will be going on my roof for my house. Got the 3.5 two of them.

I installed this lightning rod on a small outbuilding in the middle of our field, which houses some electrical equipment. It's working so far -- no lightning strikes. :DThis lightning rod has a connection nut for attaching copper wire to the grounding rod. The grounding rod isn't included, but it does come with four mounting bolts for attaching it to a roof. The surface of this rod is finished nicely. The copper is uniform in thickness and has no rough or corroded spots. The fork-like prongs that extend from the primary rod are securely and carefully welded. It's nice that a down conductor clamp is included. That makes attaching a wire easy. When I saw that this rod had received UL labs certification, I felt confident that it was suitable for its purpose of being a lightning rod.

The rod was installed properly and mounted for less than a week and snapped off at base.

Pleasantly surprised this was solid copper or at least brass. One review mentions that the kit is not all copper and I wonder if they're referring to the base which might be brass or bronze, both which tend to be easier and cheaper to cast, but brass has 28% conductivity of copper while bronze is only 17% on average. That said, the kit includes a clamp that goes on the copper shaft that you connect your grounding wire to, so the conductivity of the base isn't necessarily an issue if you're clamping directly to the shaft. The lower conductivity of the base likely encourages any electrical strikes to go through the attached copper wire since the wire will have lower resistance compared to the base.As for myself, I'm going to use it for a grounding node for a massive tesla coil I'm building. So I won't even be using the base. :)

We have this holding down the fort at our shop out in a big open industrial park. We are the tallest building around. So we have all our electronics going through this system IN HOPES to save our equipment if we ever get hit the wrong way.

Why do so many items come without directions? The lack of proper instructions can cause damage or injury and not everyone has constant internet access, even if they did, there are quite a few pieces to this particular Lightning Rod Kit and not all of them are the same. We're lucky enough to have an electrician as well as an electrical engineer in the family.We were able to have this lightning rod kit properly installed at our garage and it's been in place for about a month and a half. Since I know it was properly installed, I'm satisfied that it's functioning as intended, and the electrician said it was to code for our area, so all is good.I can recommend this favorably, but if you can find one that comes with instructions, that might be better.

This lightning rod is well made and ideal for its purpose. I did expect it to be a bit longer, but I don't need it to be. It's probably better that it is shorter than I thought, therefore less of an eye sore in some cases.This is a functional and good quality piece, which I will recommend to friends, family, and neighbors. In fact, I would say once my neighbors become aware of mine, everyone within a five mile radius will get one too lol. Im somewhat of a country living "trend" setter.I am pleased with this product and it brings more peace of mind about my home and the safety of my family. I am proud to set it up on my property!
