Visaton VS-FRS8/4 Speakers (100 – 20,000 Hz; 93 x 93 x 40 mm, Black, Wall and Ceiling Speakers, Grid FRS 8 Grid 8 ES)

Very well built and put together, good solid heavy build quality.Very good sound reproduction from speech to music. Low voices to high frequency instruments.Tested with speech radio, quiet orchestral music, quiet to very loud choral music, loud orchestral music, Rock music, Jazz and even recorded birdsong. All gave very good reproduction, only starting to distort on really loud rock music playing from a source which itself was starting to distort, and I suspect overdriving the amp. (iPod on full blast, into a small 50W amplifier, via 3.5mm headphone to aux jacks).Didn't bother testing with pop music, because pop music is irrelevant.Just placed another pair of these into a small home HiFi project - As a non-technical measurement - It gives living-room-filling sound so the music has to be shouted over, without distorting, from a 2x50W (allegedly) amplifier. I suspect the amp is not actually 2 x 50W (Nobsound NS-10G), but it's good enough for the needs of the project. I would happily buy more of these speakers for home Hi-Fi projects.

I used one of these to augment my supposedly great (but actually dull) Q Acoustics centre speaker. I placed it in a simple, unvented box and it sounds amazing - suddenly you can hear all the voices in films & TV shows so much better, with a lovely natural sound, not muffled like the Q Acoustics, and not tinny like some other speakers I tried. Definitely worth it if you know a bit about speaker construction or are just looking for something with nice, clear, natural sound. If you plan on using them to build your own shelf/floor standing speakers, I'd say you'd need to match them with a good woofer and tweeter though, as they are not very powerful and only really shine in the mid ranges.
