GERBERGear MiniSada Folding Pocket Knife

My day job is spit 50-50 between being at a desk and working with my hands. Between that and my outdoor & woodworking hobbies, I find myself reaching for a knife at least a few times a day. I use it for everything from cutting open boxes, scoring cut lines, random whittling, and more. At this price, I'm also less concerned about occasionally using it as a beater. Overall happy with a lightweight and reasonably priced knife!

I bought four of these for Christmas presents. They arrived in individual blister packs, and I opened the first to check for quality: the blade is not centered, one torx screw is severely overtightened to the point that the knife is unserviceable, and most importantly, the blade does not lock open consistently.Needless to say, this is a major safety hazard, and I am out four Christmas presents on December 6. I am waiting on a response from Gerber regarding warranty repair or replacement of the knife that I already opened, and will likely return the other three and buy from a more reputable brand such as Civivi or Kershaw. I am disappointed that Gerber has “lost its edge” in recent years.

I really wanted to like this knife. The blade geometry is amazing, and that alone is making me struggle if I should return it because of its other faults. The Micarta handle is very cool and the Micarta panel on the reverse side is a nice touch. Opening single handed is challenging, but doable and probably gets better the more you break it in. Closing it one handed is very difficult and since they extruded some of the steel where you unlock the liner lock it bites into you finger and isn't very pleasant to do as a result. For the money there are much better knives out there. I will probably return it and save my money towards a better kinfe.

The liner lock is two unobtrusive. I have difficulty hooking my thumb on it to close the knife again.

Great knife so far. Pictured center next to a Gerber Zilch (L) and a Gerber Asada (R). The D2 steel and Micarta scales are a plus! Tight and solid build with room for a little break-in. Light enough for comfortable EDC. The blade geometry is practical for many everyday tasks. Can't wait to cut a pizza or a burger in half with this thing! lol

Love the shape and design of the knife. D2 steel is a great blade metal but mine came cracked. I'm sure it just got missed by QC. Must have been a Friday serial number. Lol. Amazon already sent a replacement out and it will be here tomorrow.

I was sent an obviously returned item as the Gerber box was mangled when it was previously opened. I understand why it was returned as the knife is very difficult to open with one hand and impossible to close.
