Niche audience.
If you know a budding artist who loves anime and manga they will enjoy DRAW CHIBI STYLE: A BEGINNER'S STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE FOR DRAWING ADORABLE MINIS - 62 LESSONS: BASICS, CHARACTERS, SPECIAL EFFECTS.The first half of the book covers basic drawing skills, and exercises, to help you get better results, when you move on to the second half of the book. Skilled artists will not find this book particularly useful, once they understand what CHIBI style is.Untrained or novice artists will probably find some of the exercises challenging. Drawing takes practice. This Book is full of exercises that well improve your drawing skills. The amount of interest will depend entirely upon whether CHIBI is something that you want to spend time on, and work to get good at.Someone who is passionate about this particular type of art, would probably be able to use this book to get very proficient at it. After learning the basics the pictures are just a guide and your imagination comes into play.I like drawing that's why I got this book. I am not one bit interested in drawing CHIBI characters, though. They just really don't appeal to me much. I do like doing cartoon artwork. It's just that this isn't my style. If it's yours, there's a lot to like here. The book is well put together and comprehensive. It all depends upon whether the subject matter interests you. If you'd like to draw and you like CHIBI style characters, you'll be over the moon with this book.

Good instruction in the basics
I got this "Draw Chibi Style" book for my 9-year-old son. He draws very expressive characters but is still working on his style for drawing bodies, hair, and clothing. I like that this shows how to start with basic shapes and forms and then add details. The introduction says to practice each to prepare to create characters. The explanations in the Chibi Essentials section are nice and detailed and accompanied by helpful illustrations. The step-by-step chibi characters require more focus on following just a visual guide, but I think that is common with art books. My son is better at following these types of tutorials than I am. They are also more challenging because it puts all the lessons together, so it makes sense that beginners won't be able to start with these and get the best results.I think this book offers a lot of great lessons and tips to help kids and adults improve their drawing skills. Although the style is chibi, many of the lessons can be applied to other styles as well.

Good Intro to Chibi Drawing!
Another Review from DebuDebuBuckle Up, Lets GoOK, I’m not the artist in the house. I bought this for the person that likes to draw so this is based on her feedback.Chibi in Japanese means small. The book goes into the style and process of drawing Chibi characters. Chibi characters tend to have large hards, accentuated facial features to show cuteness. The book goes into the the right ration of head/body and how to even draw the right type of lines to draw in Chibi. You learn how to draw faces, eyes, ears, mouths etc. in Chibi style. After you finish the lessons there are original characters that cover most anime characters you’ll see in media. It has some basic examples of poses and then adding details like they show in the book to draw a Chibi character.Basically if you love Nendroids, this will show you how to draw in that style.

Large pages, educational.
The first half of this book focuses on the finer details of how to draw a chibi character. I liked the sections that briefly talked about coordinating colors and how to draw hands properly.Further into the book, there are a few pages that show the steps into drawing chibi characters, but then the rest of the pages are full color illustrations with no steps. You are expected to have learned the structure of the characters; this made it challenging to follow and not beginner friendly.I think it's still a good introduction on how to draw cute chibi characters, but it could use more informative pages like in the beginning of the book and show all steps for drawing the characters.

Disappointed with Delivery: New Book Arrived with Unpleasant Surprises!
I bought this book to practice developing my own character style, and it's cute with lots of helpful information. However, my biggest grievance is that the book arrived with stuff stuck on the front cover! I specifically purchased a "NEW" book, but it seems like Amazon sent a "Returned" item as new. I'm both disappointed and grossed out by this unexpected issue.

Teaches some nice techniques
I do like the techniques being taught in this book. A lot of the characters are very detailed, some are more simple. Overall, the book has seen a lot of use over the last few months. Definitely a favorite "how to draw" book at our house.

Practical lessons and cute examples [Draw Chibi Style: A Beginner’s Step-by-Step Guide]
I picked up Draw Chibi Style: A Beginner’s Step-by-Step Guide for Drawing Adorable Minis, and am quite pleased with the presentation. The lessons are indeed step by step and gives useful tips on proportions and underlying shapes of the Chibi. The pictures are in color throughout the book, with lessons taking up the first 1/3 of the book and examples making up the remainder. It's written in a way that would probably be easier for a teen or adult to understand the concepts, but a younger child could follow the lessons just by following the pictures. I am going to give my 8yr old some tracing paper (and perhaps a protractor) to assist in drawing a perfect circle).

Beginner Approved!
My ten year old, who has done a fair number of simple tutorials online, says this book works great. He's produced a few of the creations from the guides and they have turned out very cute - they do, however, require some dedication/ability to focus for beginners. He worked for over two hours on each of them but was engaged/not frustrated. Two thumbs up, fun art style and clear directions.
