Q: Why can't this item be used with a gas dryer

Long and short. Carbon dioxide gas. A gas stove does as well, just what is considered a "safe" amount. A dryer burns wayyyy more gas than a stove, making higher levels of carbon dioxide. I had to look it up myself. Hope this helps.

Q: What kind of filter does this product use? And are they hard to find?

Works until the plastic breaks. Trying to find the filter without buying the whole contraption. (Probably cheaper to buy the whole.) Screen insert lasted about 3 years.
