We bought this book for a Paw Patrol loving three year old and got the results we expected. For the first few days he wanted to read it a lot. The story follows the key formulaic elements of the TV show, so any child that has fallen for the Pup's charms will instantly connect with the book. The story telling is basic, so it's probably not the book you want to read to expand your child's vocabulary. After a couple of read through's it also ceases to be engaging for the adult...but for a child who loves seeing how Ryder and his team of pup's are going to save the day this time, this book serves it's purpose.

This book links into the Paw Patrol TV series and films which the children may already know or will certainly want to after reading.It is big, bright, and colourful which will grab a younger child’s attention. There are lots of detail for the child to look at, spot and talk about, while it is read.This size of the book and graphics lends itself to group or class story time.Older children will begin to recognise words and eventually grow confident enough to read it themselves.The text is detailed, there are about 10 mins of uninterrupted reading. There is quite a bit of longer and more complicated vocabulary to extend the children’s knowledge. This can be extended further by questions and observations, either on a one-to-one or in a group situation.Throughout, the storyline presents problems to be solved by the characters, I really liked one situation which exposed Rocky’s fear and then showed him conquering it. An example for a shy, unconfident child.My wife (a teaching assistant) and I read the book to review and then had the desire to seek out and watch some of the TV series, fun! Bring on, grandchildren!

My 5-year-old and my 2-year-old love paw patrol and this paw patrol book is no different. It's a sweet story about how the paw patrol join a lifeguard rescue team to save the day as they usually do.The book is well made with colourful illustrations and thick pages. The reading level is a little advanced for my 5-year-old but she enjoys listening to the story when I read it to her.
