My fourth RX100M3 so far. Great pocket camera with excellent image quality
I have been using Sony RX100's for many years. This purchase was my fourth RX100M3. They are excellent "pocket cameras" which I normally carry in my shirt pocket on a daily basis, so small size and high quality still images are my most important purchase criteria. Although expensive compared to other pocket-size cameras of lower image quality, I find the M3 price point is reasonable compared to the newer RX100 models, which have features I don't need. (I don't use it to shoot video, and I use Canon L lenses on my DSLR's, for my telephoto work.)I always carry an RX100M3, even when I'm on a photo shoot with my Canon 5DSR and 7DMarkII, for quick shots when the "big boys" are in the bag or otherwise unavailable. I am very satisfied with the Zeiss lens, zoom range, and sensor image quality, which allow a well exposed photo to be printed at large sizes up to 24 by 30 inches easily. Most of the manual and custom settings a pro wants are available. The popup electronic viewfinder is a blessing on bright days, when it's hard to see the monitor screen on the back. However, I have found that the life span is only about 3 to 4 years of heavy daily use, before something starts to go wrong. I'm not blaming the camera quality - it's due to the rough circumstances in which I use them, so if you are not banging them around, dropping them, sweating heavily on them, etc., you'll probably enjoy a longer life span.In terms of choosing between the various RX100 models, my advice is to be very specific about your intended usage, taking into consideration whether this will be your only camera or just one item in your overall camera system. There are a lot of options in the RX100 lineup, so take some time to familiarize yourself with the features of each option, so you can choose wisely. Please do not consider these comments to be a detailed technical review; they are only my impressions, based on how I use the camera.

Judging the package
It would be unfair to reduce the rating by a star for items in a package if the major item, the RX100M3, is solidly five stars and this camera is. Not to say that the items are junk - they are uniformly of good quality - but some I love and some will end up in the drawer.Lets talk camera. I bought and used an RX100 for the past 6 years and it's been awesome, but I've missed some features that would add value, like a moveable view screen and so on, so I swallowed hard and bought the RX100M3. The new features are nice but the changes in the menus and names for things is confusing (give me time) and I miss a couple things like tracking focus for one. One thing hasn't changed and that's suburb high-quality photos. What closed the deal was the Sony VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip and Tripod in the package. It's smaller than I thought but I'm able to grip it securely, and the button controls are going to be used a lot. The extra batteries and stuff are nice.Five stars it is!

Excellent camera and good batteries
The RX-100 III is a very nice camera. The photos are nearly as good as those my DSLR can take thanks to the 1" sensor, which is one important reason I purchased this camera over other "pocket" cameras. The photo quality is good under outdoor lighting and indoor lighting, and I even got very good shots without flash while inside a cave that was using low level ambient lighting. Photos are much better than on any currently available phone, even expensive ones. It also is one of the few pocket cameras having a viewfinder as well as an OLED display, which is something I looked for because in full sun I find many LED and LCD displays and are almost impossible to see.The camera is small enough to fit into my shirt pocket or, more often, the cargo pocket on pants. This allows me to keep a decent camera with me at all times, as I travel a lot and go for lots of long walks when I may enounter a a lovely scene, but when I may not be carrying my full size SLR camera. It has a built in flash that I would call only average. Not bad at all for a small camera, and tons better than the flash on any phone I've owned. It is fine for photos indoor photos at a party or gathering in a restaurant for example (which are the only two places I've used it in the two weeks that I've owned it). It doesn't seem to do much as a fill-in flash for outdoor shots, but I don't suspect the flash on any camera in this size and price range will. At least I've never owned one that would. The Sony battery lasts for about 400 photos so far. And I like that the camera comes with two additional batteries (mine were Vivitar; I cannot know if that always is the case). My experience is that the Vivitar batteries (of which, to be honest, I've used only one to date) don't last quite as long. My Vivitar battery took just over 300 shots before petering out. I'm happy with that though. Carrying all of the batteries with me allows me to take more photos in a day or two than most reasonable people would take (just ask my wife!).The zoom on this is very good. At full zoom it still takes photos that come out quite clear, unlike my last pocket camera (which had double the range, but started producing "fuzzy" photos at 7x or 8x zoom).Other "likes" are that this camera, though a pocket camera, has both manual and automatic modes, and the automatic mode is quite good most of the time. In fact, I use it more than I imagined. It can take video, though I won't say any more about it as I've not yet used video mode. It also take panoramic photos, and you can set it how wide you want to pan, which is a nice addition. I've not used the widest pan setting as yet, but the panoramic photos come out quite nicely, and this is a feature I've not seen on most pocket cameras (but is present on several Sony options). The pano setting is another reason I purchased this camera over other ones, though once again the 1" sensor was the real selling point for me.So, to summarize, I like this kit a lot. Good batteries and a really good camera that, in fact, is an acceptable substitute for my DSLR and so much easier to carry around.

Great pocket camera!
I was looking for a camera that I could tuck into a pocket, that wasn't heavy, that took great photos, and was decent in low light. This camera fit the bill. The photos are great. The build seems quite rugged and solid. The buttons are a bit small and take time getting the hang of due to the small size - but that's to be expected. The menu system is fairly straight forward. The wifi connectivity has worked well for me so far, which is a great feature for sharing photos on the fly with family, friends, and acquaintances.
