When I purchased the unit I wanted to make sure that I had a foot control so I could keep both of my hands free while working.Everything is very lightweight so I had to make a bracket to mount it on to be able to stabilize it.Works perfectly.Comes in handy when applying the epoxy on the wrappings.You can leave the unit on so you have one smooth coat without having the epoxy drip and deform your work

My previous dryer was getting old and overheating. Since I build as a hobby, I wanted to keep down my expenses down. This rod turner is a described. It is somewhat top heavy but easy to stabilize. The motor is strong enough to turn my large rods with no problem. I found the included bands allowed to much wobble of the rod butt. I switched to small rubber bands, same as I used on my original dryer. This seemed to help. I enjoy the variable speeds as I apply my epoxy at a slower speed than I use to dry my rods.

The rod dryer works very well

This thing tips over like crazy, is hard to adjust on the fly if you notice an issue, and in general is just a motor in a plastic housing. No purposeful design, or thought to user interface. The hard plastic rollers have flashing that will scratch rod coatings, make sure they are smooth before setting a rod on them.

The media could not be loaded. I am not a professional rod builder or rod repairman. I am simply a guy who loves to go fishing! I sometimes tend to go fishing with friends, we bbq and drink beer. Those days I catch more of a buzz than fish, however, I say this because I don’t always take the best care of my rods and reels! I have my few rods and reels that I’ll take when I know it’s more of a hangout, than a catch fish type of day. Over the years I would replace the guides and just do the best I could. Eventually seeing these little gadgets and I finally decided to buy one!The price on this exact model was $40. WITH the foot pedal!!!! Can’t beat that price! The little machine works as advertised!! Plug and play, the moment you take it out the box. In the rear is the connection ports, along with speed control and direction control. The top red button is off, and or pedal control. Turn it on and it rotates non stop on its own (like a set it and forget it, for drying I guess).If you do repair your rods or want to customize your rod, this little gadget is all you need!

I couldn’t believe how strong this motor is. Using it to turn my fishing rods that need repair. The big surf rods, 1-1/4” x 4’ sections, turns them like they were small ones. I was sure that the motor on this product would burn out and just stop. Man, was I surprised, ran a big rod all night while the epoxy was drying. Amazing. Love it….fixing all my broken rod guides and rods. Yeah baby !!! Get it. You will not be sorry!
