Awesome product!! Works great, with supervision
My dog won't let me clip his nails & it's annoying driving to PetSmart each month & paying $12 to get them trimmed. Been doing that for years, I'm hoping this can replace that but in a fun way! He learned how to use it the very first time & within 3 days, he's mastered what it means. I will say that the door is quite easy to move, which isn't bad per SE but I do think this product will be most effevtive is used together with your dog. For example, I put his daily Greenie in there or even a few kibble bits or other treats & make it a game with him each night. It's fun for me too. Because the door is not a tight fit, I kind of hold it by the ribbon loop at the end or just with my finger on the door, to prevent him from opening it too easily. I want him to scratch some more before I release my light hold on it. Sometimes I will inch the door away to make him think he needs to do more scratches to get the treat. As you can see, the board has tons of scratches in just 3 days. May update later if it turns out to fully replace our monthly PetSmart nail trims! The product comes with one replacement file paper for the entire board, some felt sticky pads to put on the bottom I think.Worth the money for sure, even if it ends up just supplementing the nail trim visits!

Easy to use
It is a very simple design, which is great for the dog to understand it. The file works well and is pretty durable. It even came with a replacement sticker of the file part. The only reason I didn’t give five stars was that the door to open for treats can get stuck easily and be hard to yank open when you let it sit between times to file the nails.

Handy dog maintenance, needs improvements
The Dog Paw Nail Scratch Pad is a clever invention for pet owners looking to maintain their furry friend’s paw health. However, it falls short in one key aspect that prevents it from receiving a higher rating.Firstly, let’s discuss the positives. The scratch pad itself is sturdy and durable, providing a safe surface for dogs to naturally file down their nails. It’s a great way to encourage healthy paw care and prevent overgrown nails, which can lead to discomfort and mobility issues.Additionally, the design is adorable and adds a whimsical touch to any home decor. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into creating a product that both pet owners and their furry companions would appreciate. However, the major drawback lies in its functionality. While the intention is for dogs to use their paws to access the treat hidden inside, some clever pups, like mine, have figured out how to bypass this step altogether. My dog has learned to open the door of the scratch pad with his snout, rendering the paw scratching aspect obsolete. To remedy this issue, I believe the addition of a secure fastener would greatly improve the product. A latch or lock mechanism would ensure that only paw usage results in access to the treat, encouraging dogs to engage in the intended behavior.Overall, while the Dog Paw Nail Scratch Pad serves its purpose to some extent, its lack of a fastener diminishes its effectiveness. With a small improvement in design, this product could easily earn a higher rating.

Interactive and works!
It works! My greyhound gets snappy and dangerous the moment the clippers get near her feet. I can otherwise do anything to her feet I like. I can touch them, pull on her nails, bite her feet, squeeze her paw, wash them, pick mud out them....but the moment a tool comes closer to them she angrily snaps. I've tried clippers, a dremel, a muzzle, loads of treats but it's too dangerous to continue to try. So, I decided to try this, and I couldn't be more thrilled! It's a game, it's a thinking game to play together. She picked up on it right away and even though we only got it this morning her nails are already going down. The door opens easily, but that's okay if you're in control of it. This isn't the kind of thing you just leave laying around or drop food into and expect them to just keep filing their nails. Once the door is open, bye bye treat. So, show the treat, drop it in, close the door, let them scratch a little, open the door, get a treat and praise. Boom, you've just started filing the nails and it was fun! When they stop playing, put it away until later.Could you make this yourself? Sure, if you know how. You could also make your own dog toys, dog treats and food, collars and leashes. Do you want to? If not, just buy it.Some have said "not for a large dog" but I disagree. Greyhounds are large dogs with large nails and it's just fine. If you're using this as the interactive game it's meant to be you're going to be holding the board and in charge of when the door opens - that's why it has a little pull tab.It came with a little wood bone (not a chew toy, just a piece of wood) - not sure what that's for. And it has stick-on feet for helping protect your floors if you want to put them on there.

Works great!
My hound is really terrified of nail trims, and it’s so stressful for him that we needed to find another way to maintain his nails. Within a few minutes of opening this, he was scratching at it to open the door. I put a treat in there, showed it to him, and right away he started clawing at it to try to get it. It took a little while for us to work out how to get him to use both paws, but we figured it out. I still need to find something for his back paws, but they don’t seem to grow as long and this will be super helpful for us. He is very treat motivated, which is important for the success of this tool. His nails are still pretty long, but I didn’t want to overdo it the first time. I anticipate doing a few sessions a day to start out with, and then maintain as needed.
