Gorgeous brush set!
These a a huge upgrade from the brushes I have now. They feel nice and absorb the watercolors great! I have not had any shedding so far and hope they hold up great. These would make a great gift. The packaging is stunning!

Mixed feelings on these beautiful brushes
When I opened the box on these I was thrilled with the appearance of these brushes. They are stunning to look at and the packaging is immaculate - a well thought out slide out box with perfectly sized foam cutouts holding each brush neatly in place. The brushes themselves are gorgeous and I absolutely love the look of the white barrel and white goats hair and the hand wrapped ferrule. On initial inspection I thought the fibers on these brushes were quite coarse and rough for watercolors and while the brushes do come to a point, it’s not as fine as the ones I am used to. There is some splay out of the bristles around the edges of the base on my set once I washed off the initial brush sizing, which I do find a bit annoying aesthetically but they didn’t seem too affect the painting experience too much. The white bristles also will stain once used, something to be expected on most light bristles when using staining colors, but it does take a little something away from their appearance. These do hold loads of water and I found the larger sizes to be very enjoyable for washes. The brushes have more give in use than I expected but snap nicely back into shape after. They are also easy to shape back after use (excepting those fly away bristles mentioned above).I don’t love them for details, however, and am not sure if the smaller sizes will see much painting use - I think either of the two larger sizes (10 or 12) might have been a better fit than the set for me personally so think about what you want to do with them before deciding on that.Overall while I like these they don’t feel like do everything sorts of brushes as much as a more specialized tool. With their lovely appearance they would still be a nice gift but I would couple them with some more all purpose brushes if it were for a new watercolorist.

Works well
Soft and great for trees

Low tension brush, like using a crayon. Works ok if not too wet.
Probably best for guache or acrylic. Watercolor, not so much.

Excellent Addition To My Brush Collection
I have a collection of watercolor brushes that I like. Sometimes I like to use certain brushes and nothing else will do. I do not have a lot of larger round brushes, however, so I got this in a size 12.HANDLEThe handle is comfortable to use and not difficult to paint with.BRISTLESThe bristles are pretty good. They seem to hold together well, have a decent point, and hold a good amount of paint or water. There is a good spring to them which is important to me.PERFORMANCEI like using this for larger parts of a painting, but I also like that it has the ability to do detail with the points too.THE BOTTOM LINEThis larger round brush is a nice addition to a collection if you do larger parts of paintings. It has a nice point.MY RATINGFIVE STARS. The gift box makes this a nice gift if you like or a good present for yourself to feel special. I like this brush so far and am happy with the performance. It is not as prone to split like some other brushes I have had in this size.
