A large fountain pen with a wide barrel and grip, unbeatable value for money
The Jinhao 9019 fountain pen is outstandingly wide barrelled, and you will either love or hate this design choice. For me, I absolutely love the fatness of the barrel and grip, it really stands out in width in comparison with many other pens, and I find it so comfortable to hold and write with, allowing broad large script strokes as well as the smaller writing styles. I have two 9019s with EF nibs and it has to be said they are scratchy on the paper I have tried (100gsm), although they give a regular very fine line, with constant ink flow in my versions. I also have a 9019 with an F nib and it writes much more smoothly that the EF, however the line width is also significantly wider than the EF, so I am torn between the EF and F in the 9019 models. My writing preference is for a finer line and smaller hand writing styles, so I would naturally prefer the EF nib, but the smoothness of the F nib is nicer to write with. For the price of these pens I think it is a no brainer to get one or two to try them out, particularly if you like wide barrelled large pens. This model resembles one of the Montblanc pens used when people sign important documents on tv, which will undoubtably provide far greater quality, however it also costs around 100 times more than the Jinhao 9019. Will the Mont Blanc provide 100 times better writing experience, personally I don't think so. I love the feeling of handwriting with a fountain pen using nice inks on good quality paper, it makes writing a real pleasure and encourages me to do more. I will still look around for other pens to try, particularly ones that offer good value for money. I find that if you do a lot of internet research there are a number of fairly low cost pens that provide good quality and an enjoyable writing experience, which for me is the most important thing.Addendum: Be aware that the Jinhao 9019 pens may take a while to start writing correctly, I initially thought two of mine were broken and was thinking of returning them. However I persevered, and soaked the nibs in water for a bit, and then started scribbling on a page for quite a while. Eventually both pens started writing with a good ink deposit and I breathed a sigh of relief!

jinhao 9019 Fountain Pen, Dadao
I have been using this pen for a few weeks now, and I am very impressed with it. The pen is a stunning piece of craftsmanship, with a clear acrylic barrel that showcases the piston filling mechanism and the ink color. The pen has a golden clip and trim that contrast nicely with the transparent body. The pen is quite large and hefty, but it feels well-balanced and comfortable in the hand. The pen has a smooth and fine nib that writes with a consistent and wet line which is surprising for an EF nib. The nib is not flexible, ,so no line variation. The pen has a large ink capacity as the cartridge converter is big.Overall, I think this is a beautiful and unique pen that writes very well and has a high ink capacity. It is a great pen for fountain pen enthusiasts who like piston fillers, demonstrators, or large pens. It is one of my favourite pens in my collection

Great, Really Very Large, big nib, big ink capacity. Too many turns to uncap for quick use.
As a pen collector, and daily user of the Jinhao 159 metal bodied pen, with Bock Stub nib, the 9019 was an obvious pen to try out. Not at all expensive. It is a lot bigger than the 159. Feels a lot lighter, or less dense. Can't be used posted, really, unless in private. In public this would get weird looks. The nib is VERY good, with a surprisingly expressive nature. With just light pressure, and the normal cursive writing style it shows nice variation. Very very good. As good as much more expensive nibs. There is a downside: It takes so long, and so many turns of the thread to remove the cap, it is almost theatrical. It really is making a statement. "I am going to go to this much trouble to write something, it will be amazing!"In fact, the Jinhao 159, with its heavy barrel can be "spun off" the cap with a couple of flicks of the fingers. The 9019 is too light to spin, so as many as 5-7 finger actions may be needed to uncap the pen. If you're going to write a lot, this is OK, and you could probably just rest the pen on your desk with the first thread engaged. Otherwise, be prepared to do a lot of screwing and unscrewing. So many great features to this pen, if someone could invent a quicker closure, it would be super. The pen is much bigger in the hand, and I take XL size gloves and still notice the difference compared with the 159.

Writes smoothly, a joy to use. Easy to fill. I love a chubby pen and this is very comfortable to use.

Excellent Quality and Function for The Price!
I love fountain pens and have had Jinhaos x450, x750 and the monster 159s. I recently came across the 9019 and after watching many reviews I ordered one. Then two and now I have 5 (because why not?) The heartbeat nib if you can get one is just gorgeous! This pen is huge. But very light so doesn't cause hand fatigue after hours of writing (and I DO). The ink capacity is 2.5x ish that of a normal convertor and the feed is tunes to ensure good flow (you might have to faff a tiny bit with the nib alignment if it's running on the dry side).I've inked with with Noodlers, Diamine Shimmer. Pilot Iroshzuku and my beloved JH 1670 Emerald of Chivor. None of them have been problematic. The nibs are smooth and delicious (I ordered M). Rinse them through BEFORE first fill because they're clearly being tested and tuned at source (hooray!)You should see what it does on Tomoe (original) and Rhodia! 😍 Highly recommended. Audacity HQ Out!

Decent pen, slightly scratchy
Decent quality fit and finish for this money. Good to handle and good posting. The EF nib was a bit scratchy side though but I'm not sure I knocked it when filling.
