This is a very warm coat. It's soft and zips easily. But I wish the zipper was metal instead of plastic. Other than that it's made very well. The hood is neat and tidy and stays on.

Our son is 11 years old, 5 feet and about 85 lbs. we ordered size 11-12 and it was a perfect fit. He has some space where it may last through next winter. It is warm, stylish and definitely well made. Would highly recommend and will purchase 13-14 for him when he outgrows the current jacket.

I bought this jacket for my 9 year old nephew. He absolutely loves it and it's very warm, comfortable, and well made. I ordered up and got size 11/12 and I'm glad I did. It's just a tiny bit big on him, but leaves room for layers.

This is a really well made coat. It's thick and warm, and the inside is super soft! My son loves it, and I love the color! I went a bit larger than I normally would so he could wear it next year too, and I can tell it will hold up through a lot of play!

UPDATE: the zipper will leave you frustrated beyond belief. Bought this big to maybe get two winters out of it... didn't even make it through one. Hole in inner lining (wouldn't be too bad if zipper closed) and a dead zipper. Still like the coat, but they NEED to figure the zipper thing out.This coat will surely work well for a Chicago winter. I love that the hood is also lined and has a double snap closure; you could essentially do without a hat too. The color options are wonderful. Lastly, it is fashionable (form AND function). I love that the only "decor" is one patch on the chest. I, personally, hate trying to find a good winter coat and being bombarded by all sorts of camo, and speckles, and prints, and characters all over. This coat is beautifully simple but WARM and I am very happy with this purchase.
