Cool concept, terrible delivery
Loved the idea of gamifying my workout. Biggest issue is it doesn’t count the jumps properly. After I turned it on, it said the first jump was 12 then after a couple more it was in the 50’s. I maybe jumped 15 times on smooth concrete and the strip with the LEDs was already severely damaged.Next, the LEDs are on BARELY where it has to be dark. Like pitch black. They also only turn on near your feet so I had to look at my feet which isn’t natural.Lastly, no matter what I did, it was extremely stiff and the bottom was a sharp U which made it so you had to jump very quickly to get it to flatten out.

Well worth the investment
I would use this smart piece of technology at the 24hr fitness after a sauna work out. I found my timing and frequency or revolutions where I jumped next to the line of treadmills superior to none. This device is in my opinion for me showed my focus as well as displaying for me the carrot and the stick (treadmill) verse the digital display counting rope. After sometime and countless revolutions the led's went out over time the trick is not smacking the ground to hard with the rope when jumping in my experience.

If only the tech could remotely match the beauty
TL;DR - written instructions included with rope and app are not intuitive and requires a lot of patience. I am no stranger to tech, specifically Bluetooth and all of its troubleshooting varieties. If I had this much difficulty getting this to work, I feel sorry for anyone who isn’t anywhere near as comfortable. What’s really disappointing about this, is that I’ve seen various models of this jump rope in Apple stores for a few years now and I had always been curious but not serious about using it until recently. I know that Apple doesn’t just approve and carry any products on their shelves/site without going through a stringent process. However, I can’t tell if Apple is becoming more lax, bribery is at play here, or if there is any quality follow-up once you get the initial Apple seal of approval.I say this because the pairing process is a nightmarish and from a troubleshooting standpoint the app is not intuitive whatsoever. (I have the LED model) The written instructions included in the box tell you to download the previous app “Smart Gym” and yikes! This is such a generic title/word combo that even this task could lead an unsuspecting user down the wrong path. If you’re the type to just tap on the very first match in your app search results, I urge you to slow down so you don’t download the wrong app. Once you download it, the app directs you to download a separate, “newer” app called “SmartRope”. Cool cool cool, but this is already becoming cumbersome and I haven’t even gotten to the pairing process yet. You know what else really makes this annoying, the fact that in the search results for the first app, this “newer” app was nowhere to be found within the results.I‘ve recently upgraded and updated all my core Apple products: iPhone (12 pro), Apple Watch (6th gen), iPad Pro (4th gen), and an Oura ring (2nd gen) that I have been using for the last year and change. All of them mentioned to emphasize that there is a very low chance of any other product to blame. Without going into too much detail here, my troubleshooting didn’t just include quitting and redone loading the app and turning my BT and phone off/on, but also powering down my other BT devices and moving away from those devices. I also made sure I wasn’t trying to pair from my device’s BT menu instead following the prompts in the app.I swear I think I went to the bathroom, washed hands, cracked ice from an ice tray, poured water all at a leisurely pace before returning to see that the app and the rope eventually paired? The app doesn’t make it clear if the rope is connected since there also seems to be a delay. The app’s UI is cute yet clunky and static... and so it feels like I am getting mixed messages from how the rope is behaving. For example, if you tap on your rope, and go to the button at the bottom “connection settings” the modal/pop-up is titled “smart rope connected” -even when I intentionally turn off my rope, the app still shows this.I’ve also tried to pair this with my new iPad Pro and same issue... (and yes I did uninstall from my phone before trying on my iPad). While I’d like to assume that maybe I have a faulty rope, I see that others are also having similar experiences and I doubt a replacement will solve this issue. I wanted to love Tangram’s smart rope because it’s beautifully designed, and the app looks like it could be useful, especially with the Health integration. But honestly, I found a SkipJoy rope on Amazon that is ~1/3 the price, it immediately connects and syncs my jump/activity data instantly. Sure it’s terribly less glamorous and doesn’t have the Apple health integration but it’s getting the data part done.

Very sensitive. Great while it works.
The LEDS keep breaking. I really enjoyed the rope because it counted my jumps. The original app was much better than the new one. I stopped using this rope all together to be honest. It’s a very sensitive rope. Awesome while it’s not broken. I returned it the first time and the new rope now doesn’t turn on anymore either. I gave up. Same thing with my brother who had one. Cross ropes it is!

Great design. Great concept. Great exercise.
I got this item as a gift. At first I was a bit skeptical because it seemed too techie. I mean, does a jump rope really need to be this advanced? It's been 6 months now and honestly this is one of the best gifts I've gotten. The LED numbers motivate me to keep going. To be honest, I am not the best when it comes to keeping up with any exercise routine, (I am sure many of you are probably like me with a closet filled with exercise equipment we never touch again after a few weeks), and I was surprised that I have been able to keep up with this routine for so long! The LED counter is a great way for me to keep myself motivated while I jump rope, much more than just counting in my head. It keeps me honest about how many actual jumps I've done and the app let's me know my progress with others which helps me going for that extra jump every single time. I see the numbers tick and I think to myself, "okay, just a few more and I'll hit my goal for today. Okay, 97 is good but if I do just three more it'd be an even 100. Okay I hit 100 yesterday so I can definitely do another 10. 110 is such a weird number, I should try for 150." Etc.Seeing the number floating in front of me is such a great psychological boost! If like me you've had trouble keeping up an exercise routine do yourself a favor and get this Smart Rope. For sure I've gotten way more use out of this than my Fitbit, exercise bands, shake weight, tread mill, road bike combined.
