Great product, but take time with the prep!
This is an excellent product where you are looking to hang something from plasterboard/gypsum drywall. I used them to hang a pair of computer monitors, that were on wall mounted arms.I would urge some caution if you have never used these before. A couple of things to be aware of…If you don’t have a 25mm circular cutout bit for your drill, I’d recommend getting it (you’ll see one available as an add on purchase) - I only had a 22mm cutout bit and had to do some careful adjustment to get the plugs to fit.If you’re going to fit this to drywall board that has foam behind it, I’d recommend you make sure the foam behind is clear from the path of the metal wings that will pop out. If you don’t, the wings might not move out and you lose the backing grip that is the whole reason for these fixings. Or you’ll have to be really careful extracting it.I would also carefully try testing each one, prior to installing into the drywall. I found a couple of mine seemed to stick, again you don’t want to discover the twist mechanism sticking when it’s in the wall. The ‘slots’ used to turn the mechanism are plastic, so if you try to force it, and it’s not moving, you’ll damage it, at that stage you’re going to want to replace it.Finally, the threads on the fixing, being plastic, take it handy screwing in the supplied screws.. you want to be a little bit more than finger tight. Go too heavy, and you’ve wrecked the thread. (If it had a metal thread, that would be a great upgrade to the product).

Strong
We used these in our house which is mostly plasterboard walls, but we wanted to mount things like TV brackets etc. They are easy to fit, but you need a 25mm hole saw to make a good quality hole of the right size. Don't skimp on that, or you may compromise the strength rating of these fittings. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully. We've mounted 3 TV brackets with these, including one for a 50 inch TV, just on plasterboard. They feel robust, and (so far) nothing has fallen. One thing to be aware of is that they come with M8 (8mm) bolts which are not interchangeable. I had to make a slight adjustment to one of the TV brackets because the holes in that bracket were not wide enough to fit the bolts, but as long as you have an 8mm HSS drill bit to enlarge any holes, you should be fine (a pillar drill is also useful as it makes it easier to hold the TV bracket securely). This isn't a fault with the fittings, just something to be aware of - they're not like Rawlplugs where you can use your own screws with them - you have to use the bolts which come with the fittings (or other 8mm bolts)Note that they are only for fitting to walls - not ceilings! Their design means they hold their maximum load as shear load, not plain tension as you'd get with hanging from a ceiling. (This is a reason they are 25mm wide - to avoid cutting downwards through the plasterboard).

Very strong fixing
I was amazed by these fixings and just how much weight each one can hold. I was looking to put some kitchen units on a stud wall and didn't want to start ripping plaster off the wall to install noggins in the wall to fix the cupboards to. I did a bit of research as to the best fixing to use and came across these. After watching a few videos online I decided to give them a go.They are super easy to use and the instructions are simple to follow. Drill a hole to the required diameter put the fixing in the hole and turn the coloured plastic lock with a screwdriver to lock out the wings. Then use the supplied screw to attach whatever you need to.The instructions mention using an under cutting tool that is supplied separate to trim back if the plasterboard is too thick or has adhesive where you want to use them but because I was fixing to a stud wall I didn't need this.I will definitely use gripits again, they give a strong and sturdy fixing point. They do come in different colours that relate to the amount of downward load each one can take so check the recommended weight load before just buying any.

It's a shame
I have used gripits for years and still cannot understand why they went from their robust 1/2 metal construction to this all plastic one, even more confusing is the appearance of the latest ones misleads customers familiar with the old metal type as the new type have a mentally looking plastic in place of the old metal ones.Stability wise, they appear to hold as well as the metal ones, the screws are still metal, however value for money I cannot recommend these as they seem to be a lot more expensive than the old ones that were metal.Overall, they are still easy to use and I guess that's what the DIYer prefers, I however prefer the old type with metal screws in metal thread with metal retaining wings where as these new plastic ones, I've seen them strip the inferior plastic threads out when under loads less than their ratings

Does the job for plasterboard walls
It works as said on tv. Very easy to fix. I used 4 of them to fix tv mount.. People who are complaining about falling off, please make sure you position the fixing in the 45 degree angle and ensure you rotate the fixing using something like scree driver that makes the backside open fully to clutch on to the plater board..else it is likely to fall down..
